Adekunle Temitope (born 27 May 1996), better known by his stage name Small Doctor, is a Nigerian Fuji, afro-pop recording artist and performer. [1] [2] Small Doctor was preceded by the release of another single: "Penalty" which won award for the "Best Street Hop" at The Headies 2018. [3] [4] His songs are mostly composed in English and Yoruba. [5]

Early life and education

Temitope was born on 27 May 1996 in Dopemu, Lagos State, but hails from Ondo State. He took a strong interest in music at a young age. He began his education at Orosan Nursery and Primary School Lagos, and later proceeded to Oniwaya Secondary School. Due to his interest in music, he dropped out of University of Lagos to concentrate on full time music. [6]

Career

In 2012, his music career kicked off. He released singles like Gbagaun, Anobi, Penalty and Mosquito Killer. [7] [8]

On 24 July 2015, Small Doctor released his debut studio album "Street Ambassador". [9] The album features guest appearances from Pasuma, Dre San and Young Legxy.

Small Doctor embarked on his first major tour in Nigeria titled "Omo Better Concert" on 9 December 2018. [10] [11] He performed at the 20,000 seats capacity Agege Stadium in Lagos. [12] He performed in London at a concert held at O2 Academy Islington on 9 September 2018.

On 6 April 2019, Winners Golden Bet unveiled Small Doctor as their brand ambassador. [13]

Personal life

On 3 December 2018 Small Doctor was arrested for alleged possession of firearms and for allegedly threatening to shoot a police officer who was on traffic duty along Oshodi, Lagos. [14] [15] Barely 24 hours, a magistrate court in Ebute cleared all charges against him and he was released. [16] [17]

He enrolled for Mechanical Engineering, and then transferred to the Department of Creative Arts at the University of Lagos Nigeria, where he graduated in 2005. He is married to Temitope-Gbenga Salu who is also a graduate of accounting from the University of Lagos. She is also a professional actress, voice over artiste and writer.

The Headies is a music awards show established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognize outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry. The annual ceremony features performances by established and promising artists. It is broadcast live on HipTV to viewers across Nigeria. The first and second editions of The Headies were held at the Muson Center in Onikan, Lagos State. Between 2010 and 2012, the awards were held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos. <i>Klĭtôrĭs</i> 2016 studio album by Brymo

Klĭtôrĭs is the fifth studio album by Nigerian singer Brymo. It was released independently on May 9, 2016, and made available for pre-order on iTunes prior to its release. The album comprises 11 tracks and was preceded by the lead single "Happy Memories". Brymo's girlfriend Esse Kakada is featured on the song "Naked". Pulse Nigeria included Klĭtôrĭs among the 10 Best Nigerian Albums of 2016. Klĭtôrĭs was nominated for Best R&B/Pop Album at The Headies 2016 and for Album of the Year at The Headies 2018.
