Smithville School District is a school district located north of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area in Clay County, Missouri. It currently boasts a student enrollment of about 2500 students (as of 2013 school year). The south campus consists of 3 schools, Smithville High School (9-12), Smithville Middle School (7-8), and the Smithville Upper Elementary School (Horizon) (K-6). The north campus includes only the Smithville Primary (Maple) Elementary School (K-6). The East Campus consists of Eagle Heights Elementary school (K-6), which opened in 2018.

In addition to traditional schools, CCSD also operates four alternative schools. While the district primarily serves students in Canton city limits, they also serve small sections of surrounding areas, as well as the village of Meyers Lake. Smithville High School is a public high school in Smithville, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Green Local Schools district. Their nickname is the Smithies, which was a nickname given to the school's teams by an early sports editor of the Wooster Daily Record. The colors of green and white came from the town's location within Green Township. Long-time athletic director and coach Wilbur Berkey designed the horseshoe and anvil logo the school uses.
