Snowball Effect is a New Zealand-based online investing marketplace, that enables New Zealand companies to offer shares to members of the public. [2] Snowball Effect launched in August 2014, after being one of the first to acquire an equity crowdfunding license from the Financial Markets Authority. [1] [3] as of November 2020 over NZ$75 million has been raised on the platform.

Companies have a range of options when raising capital through Snowball Effect, including public offers, private offers, wholesale investor offers, debt offers, and bespoke capital raising. Snowball Effect offers companies a variety of services to support capital raising efforts, such as shareholder preparation, offer documentation and marketing, and lead investor sourcing.

Snowball Effect has also developed Orchestra, a platform which provides governance and shareholder tools for companies. Orchestra helps companies manage share registry and nominee management, shareholder communications, compliance, and employee share option plans. The platform also includes portfolio management tools for investors and allows lawyers and accountants to manage their clients’ compliance obligations efficiently.

Harmoney is an online direct personal lender that operates across Australia and New Zealand. The company was established in 2014 to introduce peer-to-peer lending to New Zealand. Harmoney has since become the largest online personal lending platform in Australia and New Zealand, with a goal of providing people a quick and simple way to borrow online. Harmoney provides risk-priced, unsecured personal loans up to $70,000 and has helped customers borrow more than NZD $2 billion as of March 2021.

SeedInvest is an equity crowdfunding platform that connects startups with investors online. The company was founded in 2012 and launched in 2013. SeedInvest has focused on building liquidity in the platform by attracting high-net-worth individuals, family offices and venture capital firms. SeedInvest screens and vets deals before allowing them to take advantage of the JOBS Act exemption permitting General Solicitation. PledgeMe is a Wellington, New Zealand-based crowdfunding platform which offers project and equity crowdfunding.

In the United States under the Securities Act of 1933, any offer to sell securities must either be registered with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) or meet certain qualifications to exempt it from such registration. Regulation A contains rules providing exemptions from the registration requirements, allowing some companies to use equity crowdfunding to offer and sell their securities without having to register the securities with the SEC. Regulation A offerings are intended to make access to capital possible for small and medium-sized companies that could not otherwise bear the costs of a normal SEC registration and to allow nonaccredited investors to participate in the offering. The regulation is found under Title 17 of the Code of Federal Regulations, chapter 2, part 230. The legal citation is 17 C.F.R. §230.251 et seq.

Whakamana Cannabis Museum

Whakamana, or The New Zealand Institute for Cannabis Education, Research and Development is New Zealand's first museum dedicated to the history of cannabis use and culture. It was first opened in October 2013 in Dunedin as part of a project spearheaded by Abe Gray, former deputy leader of the Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party (ALCP), and Julian Crawford, former ALCP regional spokesperson.

AlphaCrowd is a New Zealand equity crowdfunding platform for digital and technology companies and investors, that was licensed by the Financial Markets Authority in October 2015. In November 2016, the company raised equity capital from a Chinese angel investor at a valuation of around $2.7 million; of the $800,000 raised a part was conditional on the investor being granted a travel visa to New Zealand.

CapBridge

CapBridge is an online investment platform, headquartered in Singapore. It was founded in 2015 and backed by Singapore Exchange. CapBridge was approved by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Government of Singapore to operate both a primary capital raising platform utilizing a Capital Markets Securities License, and a private securities exchange - 1exchange with a Recognized Market Operator license.

Birchal is an Australian equity crowdfunding platform which is the market leader for retail investors, capturing A$94 million of the A$146.6 million raised in the Australian retail equity crowdfunding market over 2018 to 2021.
