Soap&Skin is the experimental musical project of Austrian artist Anja Plaschg (born 5 April 1990).
Anja Plaschg grew up in a small village called Poppendorf (near Gnas) in south east Styria, where her parents have a farm. She has played piano since she was six. At the age of 14 she began violin studies and developed an interest in electronic music. She attended the Graz Polytechnic for Graphic Design, but dropped out at 16 and moved to Vienna shortly afterwards. There she studied art at the Academy of Fine Arts in the master class of Daniel Richter, but at 18 dropped out again. [1] [2]
After only playing a handful of concerts she was already being dubbed a "Wunderkind". [3] In 2008 she played German singer Nico in the play "Nico - Sphinx aus Eis" by Werner Fritsch in Berlin and Vienna, performing several songs in it, including "Janitor of Lunacy", from her first EP. [4] [5]
Her first album, called Lovetune for Vacuum , was released in March 2009. [6] It received excellent reviews and placed in the Austrian Top 10. The album also achieved chart positions in Germany, Belgium, and France. Music journalists have already claimed to see in her a new star of Austrian pop. [7]
Plaschg's father died in 2009 [8] [9] [10] from a heart attack. [11] During this time, Plaschg stated that she suffered "serious depression" [12] for which she was hospitalized. [12] [8] The death influenced much of her second album, Narrow .
In 2010 she won a European Border Breakers Award for her international success. [13]
Her tracks "Brother of Sleep" and "Marche Funèbre" were used in the soundtrack for Universal Pictures thriller War Games: At the End of the Day in 2010. Her track Wonder from the Narrow album was used in Belgium in the year 2019 as audio in the endgeneric of Dramafilm, All of Us produced by Willem Wallyn.
In 2011 she created the song "Goodbye" together with Apparat. It was used in the final episode of the fourth season of Breaking Bad and later as the title song of the German Netflix-series Dark . [14] [15] [16]
In 2012, she debuted as an actress, playing the role of the supporting character Carmen in the Austrian movie Stillleben (English title: Still Life). Two tracks, "Italy" and "Safe with Me" are used in the Italian film Sicilian Ghost Story (2017), written and directed by Fabio Grassadonia and Antonio Piazza.
Plaschg's third full album, From Gas to Solid / you are my friend, was released on 28 October 2018. A music video for "Heal", one of the tracks from the album, was released on 7 August 2018.
On 14 September 2021, Plaschg announced that she would be playing several concerts in 2022. [17] The announcement contained a list of three shows, as well as a note from the artist stating that in the meantime she will be "diving down 300 years along [her] European ancestors exploring the arid surface of trees and roots of trauma, evil, pain." Lumidee Cedeño, known mononymously as Lumidee, is an American singer. She is best known for her 2003 single "Never Leave You ", which peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 and led her to sign with Universal Records. The song preceded the release of her debut studio album Almost Famous (2003), which saw mixed to negative critical reception and moderate commercial performance. Her second album, Unexpected (2007) saw a critical improvement despite a commercial decline, and was supported by the cover single "She's Like the Wind".
Marit Elisabeth Larsen is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. She began playing violin aged five and played it until the age of eight. She gained international fame during her teenage years as a member of the pop duo M2M with childhood friend Marion Raven. She then pursued her own music career, releasing her debut solo album Under the Surface in 2006. Her second album, The Chase, was released in Norway in October 2008. Her third album, titled Spark was released in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and Finland on 18 November 2011, and in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 16 December 2011. Her fourth studio album When the Morning Comes was released on 20 October 2014. Larsen toured in its support within Norway with her own concerts, played songs from the album in Germany and Switzerland at public festivals and was the opening act at two of Johannes Oerding's concerts in November 2015.
"Crazy in Love" is a song recorded by American singer Beyoncé, featuring a rap verse and ad-libs from her future husband Jay-Z from her debut solo studio album Dangerously in Love (2003). The song was released as the album's lead single on May 14, 2003, through Columbia Records and Music World Entertainment. Both artists wrote and composed the song in collaboration with Rich Harrison and Eugene Record; the former also produced it with Beyoncé. Using samples from the Chi-Lites's 1970 song "Are You My Woman ", "Crazy in Love" is a pop, hip hop and R&B love song that incorporates elements of soul, and 1970s-style funk music. Its lyrics describe a romantic obsession that causes the protagonist to act out of character.
"Top of the World" is a song by American singer Brandy Norwood, from her second studio album, Never Say Never (1998). The song was written by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Fred Jerkins III, LaShawn Daniels, Isaac Phillips, Nycolia "Tye-V" Turman, and Mason Betha, with Darkchild and Norwood producing and Mase having featured vocals. Released as the album's second international single in 1998, the track peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart and reached the top 20 in Iceland, Ireland, and New Zealand.

"Naughty Girl" is a song by American singer Beyoncé from her debut solo studio album, Dangerously in Love (2003). It was written by Beyoncé, Scott Storch, Robert Waller and Angela Beyincé, and produced by Storch and Beyoncé. The song was released by Columbia Records as the fourth and final single from the album on March 14, 2004. Musically, "Naughty Girl" is an R&B song that interpolates from Donna Summer's 1975 song "Love to Love You Baby". Influenced by Arabic music, dancehall, funk and reggae, the song contains lyrics that reference to a celebration of sexual lust and conquest, leading up to a desire for a one-night stand.

Lights Poxleitner-Bokan, known mononymously as Lights, is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter. Her debut album, The Listening (2009), included the singles "Drive My Soul" and "Saviour". Her second album, Siberia, which featured the single "Toes", was released in 2011. "Circus" is a song by American singer Britney Spears. It was released on December 2, 2008, through Jive Records as the second single from her sixth studio album of the same name. Written by Dr. Luke, Claude Kelly and Benny Blanco, "Circus" is a metaphor for the public's perception of Spears' life. After she listened to the track for the first time, she felt inspired to create an album and a tour with a circus theme. "Circus" is an uptempo electropop and dance-pop song with elements of pop rock and "half-rapped" vocals. The song's lyrics talk about being an entertainer and putting on shows.
Lovetune for Vacuum is the debut album by Austrian musical project Soap&Skin, released in 2009 on PIAS Recordings. It is listed as #38 on musicOMH's Top 50 Albums of 2009.
The Time of Our Lives is the first extended play (EP) by American recording artist Miley Cyrus. The EP was released on August 28, 2009 by Hollywood Records, initially as a Walmart exclusive in the United States. Most of the album was produced by John Shanks; Dr. Luke also produced. The Time of Our Lives was originally conceived as a release to accompany Cyrus' apparel line with Max Azria. Cyrus had fairly limited involvement in the composition of the release, only having writing credits on one track: a live version of the previously released Jonas Brothers collaboration, "Before the Storm".

She was rated in fifth place in the BBC Sound of 2011 list of the top 15 most promising new artists. Maguire was also singled out as one of MTV's Brand New: For 2011 Acts. Kiana Ledé Brown is an American singer, songwriter, pianist and actress. Born in Phoenix, Arizona and based in Los Angeles, she first starred as Zoe Vaughn on the second season of MTV's horror series Scream (2015–2019). She also starred as Veronica Washington on Netflix's original series All About the Washingtons. As a recording artist, Brown first began her musical career in 2012 and signed with Republic Records to release her third extended play (EP), Selfless (2018). It spawned the single "Ex", which received platinum certification by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). Her debut studio album, Kiki (2020) peaked at number 30 on the Billboard 200.
Narrow is the second album by Austrian musical project Soap&Skin, released in 2012 on Play It Again Sam Records. It was heavily influenced by the death of her father, stating she wrote the songs after being admitted to a clinic. The cover of the French singer Desireless' synth-pop hit "Voyage, voyage" was used in the movie Stilleben, where Plaschg debuted as an actress.
Melanie Adele Martinez is an American singer, songwriter, actress and director. Born in Astoria, Queens, and raised in Baldwin, New York, Martinez rose to fame in 2012 after appearing on season 3 of the American television talent show The Voice. Following the show, she was signed to Atlantic Records and released her debut single "Dollhouse", followed by her debut extended play of the same name (2014).
Pia Mia Perez is an American singer, songwriter, and model. She began her career by posting videos of herself singing on the video sharing site YouTube, and went on to star in commercials and music videos. Pia Mia signed a recording contract with Interscope Records in 2013, subsequently releasing her debut extended play, The Gift, and a series of singles, including "Do It Again" and "Touch". In 2016, she was featured on will.i.am's single "Boys & Girls" which reached the top 40 in the UK Singles Chart. In 2017, Pia Mia independently released an EP entitled The Gift 2. Pia would later leave Interscope Records and become an independent artist in late 2017, creating her own label Cherry Pie Records. Pia briefly signed a record deal with Republic Records and Electric Feel Entertainment in 2020, before separating the following year.
"Last Dance" is a song by English-Albanian singer Dua Lipa from her eponymous debut studio album (2017). The song was written by Lipa, Talay Riley and its producer Stephen "Koz" Kozmeniuk. The song was released for digital download and streaming on 9 February 2016 through Dua Lipa Limited, after having premiered on BBC Radio 1 a day earlier. It is a chillwave, dance-pop and post-EDM song that features a contemporary dance-heavy production. Lipa was inspired by being tired and homesick, and lyrically, she sings about a relationship that could crash at any second.
