Soca Twins is a Sound system from Berlin, Germany, with Franky Fire as DJ and Boone Chatta as MC. Being founded in 2002 they are the first Soca sound system from Germany. [1]

In Jamaican popular culture, a sound system is a group of disc jockeys, engineers and MCs playing ska, rocksteady or reggae music. The sound system is an important part of Jamaican culture and history.

Soca Twins became known in the international Soca scene with live shows in the US, Canada, Trinidad, Bermuda, England, Italy, Sweden, Austria, Switzerland, Russia, Slovakia, and the Netherlands. The media described Soca Twins as one of the “world's best Soca sounds” [1] with “cult status”. [2] [3]

Soca Twins have won the award for “International Soca DJ of the Year” [4] at the International Soca Awards 2011 in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, after being nominated for the sixth time in a row. In 2008, their Soca mix Addicted 2 Soca has won the award for “Best Soca DJ Mix”. [5]

Soca music is a genre of music that originated within a marginalized subculture in Trinidad and Tobago in the early 1970s, and developed into a range of styles by the 1980s and later. Soca was initially developed by Lord Shorty in the early 1970s in an effort to revive traditional calypso, the popularity of which had been flagging amongst younger generations in Trinidad by the start of the 1970s due to the rise in popularity of reggae from Jamaica and soul and funk from USA. Soca is an offshoot of kaiso/calypso, with influences from chutney, Latin, cadence, funk and soul.

The TT Pro League is the Trinidad and Tobago professional league for association football clubs. It is the country's primary football competition and serves as the top division in the Trinidad and Tobago football league system. Contested by ten clubs, the league is one of the world's few football leagues that does not operate on an automatic system of promotion and relegation. Seasons run from September to May, with teams playing 18 games each totaling 90 games in the season. Most games are played in the evenings of Fridays and Saturdays, with a few games played during weekday evenings. Kes is a Caribbean soca/pop group formed in 2005 and known for their unique blend of soulful vocals, calypso inspired melodies, rock riffs and island beats, with hints of reggae. International Soca Monarch is an annual soca music competition/fete event, the finals of which are held on every Carnival Friday in Trinidad and Tobago. Contestants in the event will vie for two separate crowns or titles, the International Soca Monarch for uptempo songs, and Groovy Soca Monarch for slower-paced songs as the 2016 change in format is currently reversed and now contestants vie for only one award. An additional award was added, called the People's Choice, then subsequently removed, which involves text message voting by Digicel subscribers. Subscribers could have voted multiple times for their favorite artist during the competition and the artist who received the most votes was given an additional cash prize. The International Soca Monarch competition has become the mecca of soca artists in Trinidad and Tobago (T&T) where the event has been hosted since its inception; and the Caribbean region, as many artists who have competed on its stage have moved on to successful careers. Dubbed the "Super Bowl of soca music" it is a highly anticipated and well-attended event that has been graced with internationally acclaimed recording artists such as SuperBlue, Machel Montano, Fay Ann Lyons, and Bunji Garlin.

Mark Antonio Jiminez, better known by his stage name Ataklan is a Trinidadian singer-songwriter and performer primarily of the modern rapso tradition. Erphaan Alves

Erphaan Alves is a Trinidadian soca recording artist and songwriter. He initially gained full recognition in the soca word 2012 when he successfully qualified as a finalist in both Groovy and International Power Soca Monarch Finals with the songs “In your Eyes” and “Terrible”. His transition to soca megastar proved complete when he cued the HD band into his 2018 monster hit ‘Overdue’.
