"Cherveno zname" swim complex in Sofia, Bulgaria, was the biggest swimming venue on the Balkan peninsula.

It was built in 1985 to host the European Aquatics Championships. [1] Over the years it hosted many Bulgarian meets in swimming and synchronized swimming.

There were three indoor pools: Olympic swimming pool (50m lane), deep pool for diving and synchronized swimming, children’s pool for beginners. [1] and two Outdoor pools: Olympic swimming pool (50 m lane), deep pool for diving.

It was totally renovated in 2009 an costs of ~6mio Euros. [2]

The swim complex was closed in 2015. [3]

The 1985 European Aquatics Championships were held in "Cherveno zname" swim complex in Sofia, Bulgaria from 4 August until 11 August 1985. Besides swimming there were titles contested in diving, synchronized swimming and water polo. The first ever women's tournament at the European Championships was played in Oslo, Norway.
