Sofia Johanna Geisler (born 23 January 1963) [1] is a Greenlandic politician (Inuit Ataqatigiit) and journalist.
Geisler is the second of three daughters by Kristoffer Geisler and Dorthennguaq Olsvig. [1] She finished the Folkeskole in Sisimiut in 1979 and then attended Ilinniarfissuaq until 1982. She then trained as a journalist at the Niuernermik Ilinniarfik until 1990. She then studied economics at Aalborg University until 1994. From 1995 to 1998, she was Communications Officer at Royal Greenland. From 1998 to 1999, she was chief editor of radio news at Kalaallit Nunaata Radioa. From 2000 to 2007, she worked as a training manager at a journalism school. She then returned to Royal Greenland where she was Communications Advisor from 2007 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011, she was employed in the Qaasuitsup Kommunia. From 2011 to 2014, she was head of communications at the government, from 2014 to 2017 at KNI and 2017 at Mittarfeqarfiit. From 2017 to 2018, she was a presenter on Kalaallit Nunaata Radioa. She also works as a stress coach and mediator. [2]
Geisler ran in the 2018 general election representing Inuit Ataqatigiit, and was elected to the Inatsisartut with 98 votes. In the 2019 Danish general election, she received 683 votes and thus achieved the first place for Aaja Chemnitz Larsen. In the 2021 parliamentary elections, she received 116 votes and thus retained her seat in parliament. [3] On 15 February 2022, she resigned her seat in parliament to become an adviser to the marine conservation organization Ocean North Kalaallit Nunaat. [4]

Juliane Henningsen is a Greenlandic politician who was elected to the Danish Parliament in 2007 as one of Greenland's two representatives. She served until 2011 when she was not re-elected. In 2015, she left politics to join the management team at the Halibut Greenland fishing company in her hometown, Ilulissat.
General elections were held in Greenland on 24 April 2018, electing all 31 members of Parliament. The elections were required to be held no later than 26 November 2018, four years after the previous elections on 27 November 2014, but Prime Minister Kim Kielsen chose to call the elections seven months early. His Siumut party remained the largest in Parliament, but lost two seats, whilst Inuit Ataqatigiit, the second-largest party, lost three seats. The smaller Democrats and Partii Naleraq gained seats, with the newly formed Cooperation Party and Nunatta Qitornai parties both entering Parliament.
Marie Margrethe Ruth Ane Thomsen Heilmann is a Greenlandic teacher and politician who represents the Siumut party. In January 2008, she became the first female speaker of the Inatsisartut or Parliament of Greenland. The Parliament honoured her in April 2016 with the Nersornaat (gold), a medal for meritorious service, for a political career lasting over 20 years.
Aki-Matilda Tilia Ditte Høegh-Dam is a Danish-Greenlandic Siumut politician who currently serves in the Folketing. She was elected to the Folketing during the 2019 Danish general election at the age of 22, becoming its youngest member.
Múte Inequnaaluk Bourup Egede is a Greenlandic politician serving as the seventh prime minister of Greenland, a position he has held since April 2021. He has served as a member of the Inatsisartut, the parliament of Greenland, since 2015, and as chairman of the Inuit Ataqatigiit party since 2018. He has called for Greenland to gain its independence from Denmark and has been part of work on a constitution for an independent Greenland.
Snap general elections were held in Greenland on 6 April 2021 alongside local elections. Inuit Ataqatigiit emerged as the largest party, winning 12 of the 31 seats in the Inatsisartut. The governing Siumut party finished second with 10 seats.
Laura Tàunâjik Uitsatikitseq is a Greenlandic politician. She was a Siumut member of the Inatsisartut from 2014 to 2020, when she resigned to care for her children. From 2017 onward, she was a member of the municipal council for Sermersooq. Her work included advocacy for victims of domestic violence.

The spiral case is an ongoing investigation into a birth control campaign by the Danish government in Greenland which occurred primarily during the 1960s and 1970s. Danish doctors placed intrauterine devices in thousands of Greenlandic Inuit girls and women, often without consent and under the direction of government officials. The program was created to prevent unplanned or unwanted pregnancies, lower costs, and control Greenland's birth rate. Several cases occurred after the responsibility of the health care system was transferred to the Greenland government in 1991.
