Soheil Nasseri (born 1979) is an American pianist based in Berlin. [1]

Nasseri has premiered over two dozen works by contemporary composers since 2001. [2] Notably, he performed the world premiere of Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji's Sonata No. 0 (1917) at Carnegie Hall in 2002, and made the first commercial recording of it. [3] [4]

Mehran Karimi Nasseri, also known as Sir, Alfred Mehran, was an Iranian refugee who lived in the departure lounge of Terminal 1 in Charles de Gaulle Airport from 26 August 1988 until July 2006, when he was hospitalized. His autobiography was published as a book, The Terminal Man, in 2004. Nasseri's story inspired the 1993 film Lost in Transit and the 2004 film The Terminal. He returned to living at the airport in September 2022, and died there of a heart attack in November 2022.

Hormoz Farhat was a Persian-American composer and ethnomusicologist who spent much of his career in Dublin, Ireland. An emeritus professor of music, he was a fellow of Trinity College, Dublin. Described by the Irish Times as a "gifted and distinctive composer of contemporary classical music," his compositions include orchestral, concertante, piano and choral music, as well string quartets and chamber works. He also wrote numerous film scores, including that of Dariush Mehrjui's 1969 film The Cow. However, his musicological research dominates his legacy; his writings on the music of Iran—a country which he insisted be called 'Persia'—were pivotal in ethnomusicology, particularly his acclaimed 1990 study The Dastgah Concept in Persian Music.

Lost in Transit is a 1993 French comedy-drama film directed by Philippe Lioret. The film is about a man who loses his passport and spends a couple of days at a Paris airport, where he meets four people in similar circumstances. The film won the Grand Prize at the 6th Yubari International Fantastic Film Festival held in February 1995. The film was inspired by the predicament of Mehran Karimi Nasseri.
