Sommelier India - The Wine Magazine is an Indian wine magazine dedicated to wine and the culture surrounding wine. The magazine was founded by Reva K. Singh and Shiv Bir Singh. [1] International and Indian wine writers contribute to Sommelier India. This includes two Master of Wine one of whom is wine writer and critic Jancis Robinson. The magazine has been in publication since September 2005. Each issue is approximately 80 pages and is written by Indian and International wine writers.

The magazine also organises Sommelier India Wine Competition (SIWC) for wines imported and domestically produced in India. The competition used to be judged by a panel of judges led by Steven Spurrier.

Sommelier India is owned by Consolidated Media Int.

A sommelier, or wine steward, is a trained and knowledgeable wine professional, normally working in fine restaurants, who specializes in all aspects of wine service as well as wine and food pairing. A wine competition is an organized event in which trained judges or consumers competitively rate different vintages, categories, and/or brands of wine. Wine competitions generally use blind tasting of wine to prevent bias by the judges.

James Halliday is an Australian wine writer and critic, winemaker, and senior wine competition judge.

The Varsity Blind Wine Tasting Match is an annual competition in blind wine tasting between the blind tasting teams of the Oxford University Blind Wine Tasting Society and the Cambridge University Blind Wine Tasting Society which has run since 1953. It is sponsored by Champagne house Pol Roger and the current convenor is James Simpson, Master of Wine (MW).

Nebraska wine

Nebraska wine is wine made from grapes grown in the U.S. state of Nebraska. Nebraska's oldest winery was founded in 1994, and about thirty-five commercial wineries operate across the state. Wine quality varies across the state, however several wineries have won Best of Show titles during the States first 25 years of commercial wine production. Five of those titles were won with wines made of the states #1 wine produced from the Variety Edelweiss. Other wins were made with a dry Brianna, Vignole and a Marechel Foch Rose' wine. The vast majority of these wineries are small and sell most of their wine to tourists who visit the winery in person. The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has a program in viticulture. There are no designated American Viticultural Areas in Nebraska.

The Wine & Spirit Education Trust, often referred to as WSET, is a global organisation which arranges courses and exams in the field of wine and spirits. WSET was founded in 1969, is headquartered in London and is generally regarded as one of the world's leading providers of wine education. In 2016, it opened its first international office, WSET Asia Pacific, in Hong Kong in response to high demand for wine and spirit education across Greater China.

Tom Stevenson British wine writer and critic (born 1951)

Tom Stevenson is a British wine writer and critic. Described by his colleagues as one of today's most prolific wine authors, Stevenson is regarded as the world's leading authority on Champagne. He has written 23 books, the most important of which have been published internationally by more than 50 publishers and translated into over 25 languages. In 1986, his book Champagne became the first wine book to win four literary awards, establishing Stevenson's reputation as a serious author, a fastidious researcher with a talent for divining future issues, and a critic bold enough to take on the establishment.

<i>The Oxford Companion to Wine</i>

The Oxford Companion to Wine (OCW) is a book in the series of Oxford Companions published by Oxford University Press. The book provides an alphabetically arranged reference to wine, compiled and edited by Jancis Robinson, with contributions by several wine writers including Hugh Johnson, Michael Broadbent, and James Halliday, and experts such as viticulturist Richard Smart and oenologist Pascal Ribéreau-Gayon.

Anthony Rose is a British wine journalist known for his column in The Independent. He also contributes to publications such as Decanter, The World of Fine Wine, Revue du Vin de France, China and Shanghai Daily. Rose has contributed to several wine books including Wine Report, The Oxford Companion to Wine, and for five years co-authored the annual consumer guide Grapevine with Tim Atkin. Rose was one of four UK wine writers, along with Joanna Simon, David Williams and Jane Parkinson, to launch an online wine ratings magazine for the UK called The Wine Gang.

Jeannie Cho Lee

Jeannie Cho Lee is a Hong Kong-based, Korean-American wine critic, author, journalist, consultant, wine educator and Master of Wine, the first ethnic Asian to achieve this accreditation. She was 25th on Decanter's Power List 2013.

André Jullien was a French vintner and pioneering wine writer. Wine historian Hugh Johnson describes Jullien's work as "the foundation-stone of modern writing about wine".

Doug Frost is an American Master of Wine, and Master Sommelier as well as an author and wine consultant based in Kansas City, Missouri.

SGC is a brand of three Bordeaux wines coming from parcels of land that were not discovered at the time of the Bordeaux Wine Official Classification of 1855. The secret parcels on both left and right banks of Gironde river produce a Grand Vin. SGC parcels are small in size and produce a red wine in the following appellations: Medoc, Pomerol and Saint-Emilion Grand Cru.

Miquel Hudin American journalist

Miquel Hudin is an American-Croatian writer based in Catalonia, Spain. He created a series of wine travel books called, Vinologue in 2008. He additionally writes for his website, Hudin.com since its launch in 2011.
