Sonja Henie was a Norwegian figure skater and film star. She was a three-time Olympic champion in women's singles, a ten-time World champion (1927–1936) and a six-time European champion (1931–1936). Henie has won more Olympic and World titles than any other ladies' figure skater. She is one of only two skaters to defend a ladies' singles Olympic title, the other being Katarina Witt, and her six European titles has only been matched by Witt.

The fifth cycle of Holland's Next Top Model premiered on 5 September 2011 on RTL5. Producers of the show aired a joint Belgian-Dutch adaptation of the show, named Benelux' Next Top Model, which ran from September 2009 to November 2010 following the show's fourth cycle. In 2011, it was announced that the two countries would be parting ways and the Dutch version would continue under its original title. Three of the five panel members from the last cycle of Benelux' Next Top Model, including host Daphne Deckers, Bastiaan van Schaik, and Mariana Verkerk returned to the newly independent production.
Wilhelm Henie was a Norwegian sportsman and furrier. He was track cycling World Champion in 1894, and competed at the European Speed Skating Championships in 1896. Henie was coach and manager for his daughter Sonja, who became a famous figure skater and later film actress.

The film introduces Brigitte Nielsen as the title character, with Sandahl Bergman, Paul Smith, Ronald Lacey, and Arnold Schwarzenegger in supporting roles.
Carlo Bomans is a Belgian former racing cyclist. He competed in the individual road race event at the 1984 Summer Olympics. In October 2005 he succeeded José De Cauwer as coach of the Belgian national cycling team. As coach of the Belgian national cycling team he won the world championship cycling in 2012 with Philippe Gilbert.
Sonja Vermeylen is a former Belgian racing cyclist. She won the Belgian national road race title in 1996 and 1997.
Sonja Castelein is a Belgian middle-distance runner. She competed in the women's 1500 metres at the 1976 Summer Olympics.
