Sonja van Driel (born 15 December 1959, Haarlemmermeer) is a Dutch photographer and writer of educational photography books. She lives and works alternately in the Netherlands and France (Bourgogne).
In her young years, Sonja worked at Royal Jordanian Airlines. This gave her the opportunity to travel a lot and to live at different places in the world. Her love for photography was sparked by the experiences from her travels.
She educated herself in photography at the Vrije Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten (Academy of Fine Arts) in The Hague.
Sonja began her career as a professional photographer in 1994 for newspapers and magazines, businesses and private individuals. She had publications in Filosofie Magazine, Gay Krant, De Telegraaf and various professional magazines at Sanoma Media.
Sonja tells us: “At the Academy I have learned to look and observe, in practice I have learned about photography and to run my business.”
After 12 years of experience as a photographer, she started giving workshops and lectures to other photographers. Since then, Sonja regularly performed as a guest lecturer for domestic- and foreign photography academies, institutes and organisations. [1] Among other, she spoke at Photoville in New York City, Photography Day in Amsterdam and at the Belgian Federation for Photographers in Brussels.
Sonja writes books about photography- and light exposure techniques, but also about practicing entrepreneurship as a photographer.
She has interviewed photography purchasers at TNT, Shell, Abacapress and many others to find out about the motivations of hiring a specific photographer, or not. She talked to professionals in the photography industry such as Lars Boering at World Press Photo, Anil Ramchand at Corbis Images and successful photographers to identify the do's and don'ts of building a career as a photographer.

Hélène "Hella" Serafia Haasse was a Dutch writer, often referred to as the "Grande Dame" of Dutch literature, and whose novel Oeroeg (1948) was a staple for generations of Dutch schoolchildren. Her internationally acclaimed magnum opus is Heren van de Thee, translated to The Tea Lords. In 1988 Haasse was chosen to interview the Dutch Queen for her 50th birthday after which celebrated Dutch author Adriaan van Dis called Haasse "the Queen among authors".
The Stripschapprijs is a Dutch prize awarded to comic creators for their entire body of work. It is awarded annually by the Stripschap, the Dutch Society of comics fans, since 1974. The prize is non-pecuniary, but is considered the most important award for comics in the country.
Anna Maria Geertruida "Annie" Schmidt was a Dutch writer. She is called the mother of the Dutch theatrical song, and the queen of Dutch children's literature, praised for her "delicious Dutch idiom," and considered one of the greatest Dutch writers. An ultimate honour was extended to her posthumously, in 2007, when a group of Dutch historians compiled the "Canon of Dutch History" and included Schmidt, alongside national icons such as Vincent van Gogh and Anne Frank.

Caren Selina Maitreya, formerly known as Selina Oppenheim, but best known as Selina Maitreya is an international photography consultant and author. She has published two books, Portfolios that Sell: Professional Techniques for Presenting and Marketing Your Photographs and How to Succeed in Commercial Photography: Insights from a Leading Consultant. Karen Frank, the photo editor of O: The Oprah Magazine called Portfolios that Sell, "An absolute essential for the photographer creating his portfolio for the first time." The Boston Globe stated Portfolios that Sell is for "amateur photographers who want to enjoy their [photos] more." Selina has been consulting with hundreds of photographers for thirty years. She currently lives in Massachusetts.

Jon Naar was a British-American author and photographer celebrated for his pioneering images of New York City graffiti in the 1970s, and for portraits of Andy Warhol and other celebrities, including the British Prime Minister. Active through his late nineties, Naar had a multifaceted career as an intelligence officer in World War II; a globe-trotting marketing executive during the postwar years; and an environmentalist, with 12 published books to his credit.
Gied Jaspars was a Dutch television maker who gained prominence in the 1960s and 1970s making progressive and controversial TV shows for the VPRO; he is well known for his collaboration with writer and director Wim T. Schippers. After he left the television and film industry he started a career as a business man; throughout his career he had a great interest in nature, expressed in narrative, meditative reflections in television and radio series which were later bundled as a single collection.
Marie "Rie" Cramer was a Dutch writer and prolific illustrator of children's literature whose style is considered iconic for the interwar period. For many years, she was one of the two main illustrators for a leading Dutch youth magazine, Zonneschijn (Sunshine). She also wrote plays under the pseudonym Marc Holman. Some of her work was banned during World War II because it attacked National Socialism, and she wrote for a leading underground newspaper during the war.

Nico Jesse was a Dutch humanist photographer and photojournalist and later a commercial and advertising photographer. Originally a physician, he combined his work as a doctor with his passion for photography until, in 1955, he gave up his medical practice to devote himself exclusively to photography, producing imagery for several companies’ annual reports and business documents. He also made a large number of books about cities and countries in Europe and mounted exhibitions of the images, the most famous being Women of Paris (1954), and contributed to a mass observation project of Nazi-occupied Utrecht. In 1962 Nico Jesse took up his original profession again and at his death in 1976, left a large photographic oeuvre, in which people and their everyday activities are the focus.
