Sopron wine region (Hungarian : Soproni borrégió) is one of the seven larger wine regions of Hungary, consisting of only one wine region (Soproni borvidék). It is linked to the neighbouring Burgenland in Austria from a geographical, cultural and viticultural point of view. It is mainly a red wine producing region, the main variety of which is Kékfrankos. Wine production dates back to Roman times. [1] [2] [3]
Hungarian is a Finno-Ugric language spoken in Hungary and several neighbouring countries. It is the official language of Hungary and one of the 24 official languages of the European Union. Outside Hungary it is also spoken by communities of Hungarians in the countries that today make up Slovakia, western Ukraine (Subcarpathia), central and western Romania (Transylvania), northern Serbia (Vojvodina), northern Croatia, and northern Slovenia. Burgenland (German pronunciation: [ˈbʊʁɡen̩lant]; Hungarian: Őrvidék; Croatian: Gradišće; Slovene: Gradiščanska; Czech: Hradsko; is the easternmost and least populous state of Austria. It consists of two statutory cities and seven rural districts, with in total 171 municipalities. It is 166 km long from north to south but much narrower from west to east. The region is part of the Centrope Project.

Soproni VSE is a Hungarian football club in Sopron. The club's colours are purple and white. They won the Nemzeti Bajnokság II two times in 1945 and 1946, but they have never played in the first league. In 2011, the club won the championship in the third league, so in the 2011-12 season they were promoted to the Nemzeti Bajnokság II. It is a successor of FC Sopron.
Balaton wine region is one of the seven larger wine regions of Hungary. It consists of six wine regions: Badacsony, Balatonboglár, Balaton-felvidék, Balatonfüred-Csopak, Nagy-Somló and Zala. Its wine regions are spread around Lake Balaton; with these areas having constituted one single wine region back to the 19th century. Wine production was started at the beginning of the 1st century by the Romans. The region is known for its specific white wines showing local particularities; its most widely grown variety is olaszrizling.
Duna wine region is the largest of the seven larger wine regions of Hungary, stretching between the rivers Danube and Tisza. It consists of three continuous wine regions with similar conditions: Csongrád, Hajós-Baja and Kunság. Its area is mostly flat; the typical soil is sand and occasionally loess. Its climate is favourable to growing grapes, but weather extremities are frequent. Formerly it was known for its light sand wines.
Észak-Dunántúl wine region is one of the seven larger wine regions of Hungary. It consists of four wine regions around Buda and the upper Danube: Etyek-Buda, Neszmély, Mór and Pannonhalma. On its limestone-based soil exclusively white wines are produced. International varieties – Chardonnay, Sauvignon blanc, Rhine riesling, Tramini and Muscat Ottonel – play a significant role, but traditional local varieties are also present, such as Olaszrizling, Leányka and in Mór also Ezerjó.
The 2013–14 season will be Soproni VSE's 27th competitive season, 3rd consecutive season in the Nemzeti Bajnokság II and 92nd year in existence as a football club.
