Soulgrind

Soulgrind is a black metal band from Finland. Its members hail from different black metal musical projects such as Thy Serpent, and Finntroll. Its lyrics deal with paganism, and their 2007 album "Pakana" is Finnish for "pagan".

Black metal is an extreme subgenre of heavy metal music. Common traits include fast tempos, a shrieking vocal style, heavily distorted guitars played with tremolo picking, raw (lo-fi) recording, unconventional song structures, and an emphasis on atmosphere. Artists often appear in corpse paint and adopt pseudonyms.

Finntroll is a folk metal band from Helsinki, Finland. They combine elements of black metal and folk metal. Finntroll's lyrics are mostly in Swedish, the only exception being the song "Madon Laulu" on Visor Om Slutet. Finntroll's original singer, Katla, decided to use Swedish over Finnish since he was part of a Swedish-speaking minority in Finland and the sound of the language seemed to better suit the band's "trollish" outfit. Despite several vocalist changes, this tradition has continued.

Twilight Ophera is a symphonic black metal band from Finland. The band formed in 1996, and signed with British label Cacophonous the following year. This label folded in 2000, and the group went through lineup changes before signing with Crash Music in the United States in 2003.

Tapio Wilska is the main vocalist of the heavy metal band Sethian. He is also the ex-lead vocalist for the band Finntroll and is the current vocalist of Canadian band Obscene Eulogy. He gets his inspiration from bands like Black Sabbath, Motörhead, Dead Kennedys, Venom, Thin Lizzy and The Pixies.

Arvas, formerly known as Örth, is a Norwegian black metal band formed in Bergen in 1993 as a one-man project by multi musician V-Rex. In Summer 1996, Borknagar drummer Grim and Gorgoroth bassist Ares joined the band. They recorded an album in Winter 1996, titled Nocturno Inferno, but it was never released. After Grim committed suicide in 1999, V-Rex decided to keep on going as a one-man project, but changed the band's name. He recorded two demos, Countless Souls at Dawn and I Am Thy Grief, and a split album with Hordagaard titled Dawn of Satan/Uncle Satan, which was released by Azermedoth Records. The band's first official full-length album Blessed from Below – Ad Sathanas Noctum was released in 2010 by the band themselves. Their second album Into The Realm Of The Occult was released in November 2013 by Italian label ATMF Records, to be followed in March 2015 by Black Satanic Mysticism, via Aeternitas Tenebrarum Music Foundation.
