Soundings of the Planet is an American, artist-owned, independent media company based in Bellingham, Washington that produces award-winning relaxation and world music by New Age artists and international musicians as well as documentaries on various environmental and human rights issues. [1]

History

During the 1970s, while traveling across the U.S. in their school bus home, Dean Evenson and Dudley Evenson began videotaping interviews with spiritual leaders and recording nature sounds. They formally co-founded the Soundings of the Planet record label in 1979 in Tucson, Arizona. [2] Since then, they have produced over 80 music albums and videos. [1]

According to AllMusic, "Goodall began composing original songs as a teen, earning local notoriety with his band Trax; in the years to follow, he learned to play a vast range of instruments, including mandolin, piano, drums, harp, flute, glockenspiel, panpipes, vibraphone and synthesizer, and cut his first album at age 26". He is a prolific recorder, having recorded over 75 albums. He also topped the UK music charts twice and sold over three million albums. His first album was Emergence (1987), published by New World Music. His early albums were published also by Oreade Music. Medwyn Goodall started MG Music in 2003. This is a record label which specializes in New Age music.

Gregg Turkington American comedian

Gregg Turkington is an Australian-born American entertainer, actor, musician, and writer who performs as Neil Hamburger, a stand-up comedian persona he developed in the 1990s. Alongside Tim Heidecker, Turkington also stars as a fictionalized version of himself on the comedic web series On Cinema (2011–present). In addition, he formed one-half of the band Zip Code Rapists and has collaborated on numerous projects with musicians including Trey Spruance.

Constance "Connie" Demby is singer, experimental musical instrument inventor, painter, sculptor, and multi-media producer. Her work falls into several categories, including ambient or space music. She is considered a pioneer in new age music best known for her album Novus Magnificat.

Dean Evenson

Dean Evenson is an award-winning new-age musician, composer, producer and videographer. His hometown is Staten Island, New York. He has a master's degree in Molecular Biology. He worked in Manhattan as a recording engineer for Regent Sound with many Atlantic recording artists including Eric Clapton, Mose Allison, Roberta Flack. Dean plays several instruments including the silver flute, Native American flute, synthesizer and keyboards. In the New Age genre, his music is generally sounds of nature combined with flute melodies and other instruments for ambient and meditative purposes. His music is often used for massage, meditation, yoga and relaxation.

Snatam Kaur

Snatam Kaur Khalsa, is an American singer, songwriter and author. Kaur performs new age Indian devotional music, kirtan, and tours the world as a peace activist. The surname "Kaur", meaning "princess", is shared by all female Sikhs.

Tom Barabas is an American-Hungarian pianist/keyboardist. He studied classical music at the Caracas Conservatory in Venezuela before developing a taste for rock, jazz, and New Age. He died in San Diego, California in the spring of 2020. While he was over 70 years old, his kept his exact age secret.

Paul Avgerinos is an American music composer, performer, and producer. His work is in the genres of ambient, space, world, World Fusion, electronic, and drone. Avgerinos has worked with Deana Carter and The Celtic Tenors. Avgerinos is a member of ASCAP and his music has been used in motion pictures, television shows, and commercials.

Stuart Jones (composer)

Stuart Jones is an English composer and musician from Birmingham, who records on the label New World Music. He teaches in Birmingham.

Laura Drew, a.k.a. Singh Kaur or Lorellei (1955–1998) was a new-age music composer, vocalist and instrumentalist, who had a prolific career that lasted from the early 1970s to the late 1990s, releasing 23 albums. With her angelic voice and haunting melodies, Singh Kaur was a pioneer in the growing genre of Western interpretations of Indian chanting music.

River Guerguerian is a multi-percussionist, composer, and educator. Canadian-born, River is of Armenian-Egyptian descent and currently lives in Asheville, North Carolina.

Sherry Finzer is an American flutist and composer based in Phoenix, Arizona. A national award-winning musician known for her contributions in the genre of flute music, Finzer is known predominantly as a soloist, but in recent years has formed the supergroup Trialogue with guitarist Darin Mahoney and percussionist Will Clipman. Mick Rossi, is a Grammy-nominated American pianist, drummer, percussionist, conductor and composer known for his diverse, progressive work in the New York Downtown scene. A longtime collaborator of Philip Glass and Paul Simon, Rossi’s career has spanned many genres of contemporary American music.
