The South City Chiefs American Football Club is a sporting club, based in Marion, SA, competing in the South Australian Gridiron Association league.
The South City Chiefs were formed in June 1988 by founding members Lyn and Trevor Dean, Bill Maye, Bob McPherson, Glen Michell and Mark Szolga. The club was originally based in the inner southern suburbs of Adelaide South Australia at Forestville/Millswood, to where it is currently at the Marion Sports and Community Club (A.K.A. Club Marion). The Chiefs colours are red, white and blue and the official club logo is an Indian Chief Head.
The Chiefs have had a proud history, with the senior team winning one championship in the 98/99 season and were runners up in 90/91, 05/06, 08/09, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2016.
The Chiefs Juniors have won five championships: 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013 and most recently in 2018 & 2019, going undefeated in all games (including the Championship for 2018), unfortunately the Championship game for Chiefs Juniors of 2019 was a loss, by 2 points. We're very proud of our Juniors Program and look forward to them joining us at a Senior level.
We have produced a number of players that have represented South Australia and Australia and we are proud to have the only player (Andrew Hurcombe) in Australian history to run for over 12,000 yards.
Most recently the following Chiefs where inducted into the South Australian Hall of Fame. Andrew Hurcombe, Christopher de Mello, David Sedgwick, Lynn & Dawn Mayman, Shaun McKeough, Trevor & Lyn Dean.

Andrew Barry Casson Gaze is an Australian former professional basketball player and coach. He played 22 seasons in the National Basketball League (NBL) with the Melbourne Tigers from 1984 to 2005, winning the league's MVP award seven times and winning the scoring title 14 times. He also guided the Tigers to two NBL championships, in 1993 and 1997, and was named an All-NBL First Team member for a record 15 consecutive years. Gaze has been described as one of the greatest players Australia has ever produced.
Derrick Vincent Thomas, nicknamed "D.T.", was an American football linebacker for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). Considered one of the greatest pass rushers of all time, he played 11 seasons with the Chiefs until his death in 2000. Thomas played college football at University of Alabama, where he won the Butkus Award, and was selected fourth overall by Kansas City in the 1989 NFL Draft. During his career, he received nine Pro Bowl and two first-team All-Pro selections, and set the single-game sacks record.
Norwood Football Club, nicknamed the Redlegs, is an Australian rules football club competing in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL) in the state of South Australia. Its home ground is Coopers Stadium, which is often referred to as "The Parade". It is one of the two traditional powerhouse clubs of the SANFL, the other being Port Adelaide, who together have won half of all SANFL premierships. The club has won 31 SANFL premierships and 1 SANFLW premiership.
Will Herthie Shields is an American former professional football player who was an offensive guard in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons. He played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers, earning consensus All-American honors and winning the Outland Trophy. He played his entire professional career for the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs, and never missed a game in 14 seasons. Shields was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2011 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
Marlene Stewart Streit, is a Canadian amateur golfer, and a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame.
Glen Darren Jakovich is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL).
Ross William Glendinning is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the East Perth Football Club in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) and for the North Melbourne Football Club and the West Coast Eagles in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

Trevor John French Foster MBE was a Welsh rugby footballer, and coach. He played rugby union for Newport and rugby league for Bradford Northern. Trevor Foster was a Sergeant Physical Training Instructor in the British Army during World War II.
Ilana Sheryl Kloss is a former professional tennis player, tennis coach, and commissioner of World TeamTennis from 2001-21. She was the World's No. 1 ranked doubles player in 1976, and World No. 19 in singles in 1979. She won the Wimbledon juniors singles title in 1972, the US Open juniors singles title in 1974, and the US Open Doubles and French Open Mixed Doubles titles in 1976. She won three gold medals at the 1973 Maccabiah Games in Israel.
The Goldfields Football League is an Australian rules football league based in the Goldfields region of Western Australia. Founded in 1896 as Hannans District Football Association, the league enjoyed a seat and full voting rights on the Australian National Football Council until 1919. The first clubs to play Australian football were formed within the region, and the league helped popularise the sport in the region, helping to establish the sport and supplant Rugby in popularity. The GFL was known as the Goldfields Football Association (GFA) from 1901–07 and 1920–25, and as the Goldfields National Football League (GNFL) from 1926–87.
The Lincolnshire Bombers are a British American football team based in North Hykeham, Lincolnshire, England. The team in its current form was founded in 2005. They currently play in the BAFA NFC South 2 for the 2019 season. The original team the Lincoln Bombers were formed in the late 1980s and in 1992 the team was renamed the Lincoln Saints. The Saints were 1993 National First Division champions. Following several mergers with other regional clubs The Saints disbanded leaving the county without an American Football team until the club reformed in 2005.
Goodwood is a Baseball club playing in the South Australian Baseball League. Known as the Indians, their home ground is Mortlock Park in Colonel Light Gardens. The Goodwood Baseball Club was founded in 1889 and is the oldest baseball club in existence in South Australia and the oldest continuous baseball club in Australia.
West Adelaide Soccer Club is an Australian soccer club currently playing in the South Australian NPL. Traditionally named Hellas, the club was founded by members of the Greek community of Adelaide. West Adelaide became a founding member of the National Soccer League in 1977 and a year later became the first Adelaide team to be crowned national champion when it won the 1978 National Soccer League after a 1–1 draw in the final round match with Adelaide City in the local derby.

ACT Gridiron or ACTG is the governing body for gridiron in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia. ACT Gridiron currently has three teams. The season culminates with the grand final, known as the Capital Bowl.

Jack Steele is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). He previously played for the Greater Western Sydney Giants from 2015 to 2016. Steele has won two Trevor Barker Awards and is a dual All-Australian. He served as St Kilda co-captain in 2021, and has served as the sole captain since the 2022 season.
