The South Pacific Scouts were a jungle warfare unit formed during World War II from Fijians and Solomon Islanders. They participated in the American landings at New Georgia in 1943. [1]

Melanesia is a subregion of Oceania in the southwestern Pacific Ocean. It extends from New Guinea in the west to the Fiji Islands in the east, and includes the Arafura Sea.

The Fiji Infantry Regiment is the main combat element of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces. It is a light infantry regiment consisting of six battalions, of which three are regular army and three are Territorial Force. The regiment was formed with the foundation of the Fijian armed forces in 1920. The regiment, as it is today, goes back to 1978 following Fiji's independence. The Royal Australian Infantry Corps and Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment conduct yearly training seminars and exercises with the Fiji Infantry Regiment

Fiji–Solomon Islands relations are diplomatic and other bilateral relations between the Republic of Fiji and Solomon Islands. Diplomatic relations are cordial, although the Solomon Islands government has aligned itself with other countries in the region to urge Fiji interim Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama to restore democracy in Fiji. Fiji and the Solomons are both located in Melanesia, and are both members of the Melanesian Spearhead Group. They also participate in other regional organisations including the Pacific Islands Forum. In August 2008, it was announced that Solomon Islands intended to open a High Commission in Suva, and in December the government of Fiji announced that it had "formally endorsed the establishment of a Resident Diplomatic Mission in Suva by the Government of Solomon Islands". Fiji's High Commission to Papua New Guinea is accredited to Solomon Islands.
The Fiji national futsal team was formed by the Fiji Football Association, the governing body of futsal in Fiji and represents the country in international futsal competitions. The current coach is Jerry Sam, a former head coach of Solomon Islands Futsal team. He led them to their first world cup. Sam was announced as head coach in 2022.
Pita Bolatoga Senibiaukula is a Fijian football player. A midfielder, he has played for Labasa FC and Hekari United FC in Fiji. He was also on the Fiji national squad, participating in the South Pacific Games in 2007 and in Fiji's qualifying matches for the 2010 and 2012 World Cup.
The Solomon Islands women's national sevens team is Solomon Islands national representative in Rugby sevens. They participated in the 2012 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship in Fiji. At the 2019 Oceania Women's Sevens Championship in Fiji, they finished in sixth place.
The Solomon Islands Hockey Association is the governing body of field hockey in Solomon Islands, Oceania. Its headquarters are in Honiara, Solomon Islands. It is affiliated to IHF International Hockey Federation and OCF Oceania Hockey Federation.
