South West Kolkata is a locality in Kolkata, India. It is bounded by Tollygunge in the East, New Alipore and Taratala in the North, Sarsuna in the West and extends up to Joka in the South. It includes the localities of Parnasree, Behala, Barisha, Thakurpukur, Sarsuna, Joka, Diamond Park, Sodepur, Haridevpur, Siriti, Sahapur etc.
Regarding, the history of Behala, it can be said that it is named after a mythical female character named Behula who saved her husband's life from the enrages of the Goddess of Snake, called Maa Manasa. It is a very old place and here we can see the ancestral home of Sabarna Roy Chowdhury, the founder and charter giver of then Calcutta.

It is very easy to be in Behala. The easiest way to reach is to take metro rail from Dumdum or Esplanade and get down at Tollygaunge. From there you can get auto rickshaw and many other Behala bound buses like 21/1, SD4 etc. If you wish to go by e.m.u., i.e. local train, then just get down at Majherhat station by travelling in Budge Budge local and then walk a little bit and from the opposite side of Mint, you can get so many buses.

Behala, is a locality of South West Kolkata in the Indian state of West Bengal. Behala is a part of Kolkata Municipal Corporation area. Now it is broadly spread across Ward Nos. 118, 119, 120, 121, 122, 123, 124, 125, 126, 127, 128, 129, 130, 131 and 132 of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and is divided into two Vidhan Sabha constituencies: Behala Paschim and Behala Purba. Behala, Parnasree, Thakurpukur, Haridevpur and Sarsuna police stations serve this area under the South West Division of Kolkata Police also known as Behala Division.
Parnasree Pally is an upscale locality of Behala in southern Kolkata, India. It was included in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation in 1985. Translated to English the name means "beauty of the leaves". While it has lost most of its greenery owing to rapid real estate development, it remains one of the greener and cleaner localities of Kolkata. It was earlier known as Halderbagan. The local dhobis of Parnasree are supposed to be the oldest residents of the area. They can still be found in the Dhopapara area of Parnasree which constitutes of 2-3 houses. The area of Parnasree has quite few banks namely the State Bank of India, United Bank of India, Allahabad Bank, Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda besides a few ATMs of other banks. The area also is home to the Parnasree Palli Post Office which constitutes Kolkata 700060. A 40 feet wide road runs around the core area of Parnasree. It comes out the junction of Banamali Naskar Road and Upen Banerjee Road and it merges back into Upen Banerjee Road at RIC More (Crossing). The area has got a vibrant bus station where bus routes of 13, S4, S4D, AC4, AC4A,E4, VS-4, Parnasree Howrah Mini bus terminate. Parnasree Pally is situated very close to the Behala Airport, which is to be converted to an airport to serve as an air traffic hub for Bengal and for other regional traffic.
Kasba is a locality of South Kolkata, in West Bengal, India. It is situated in the southern part of the city encircled by the Sealdah South section of the Eastern Railways to the west, Dhakuria and Haltu to the south, the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass to the east and the locality of Tiljala to the north.
Barisha is a residential locality of Kolkata (Calcutta) in West Bengal, India. It is a part of greater Behala region. Historically, it is one of the oldest boroughs in Kolkata.
