Sperrin is one of the seven district electoral areas (DEA) in Derry and Strabane, Northern Ireland. [1] The district elects seven members to Derry and Strabane District Council and contains the wards of Artigarvan, Ballycolman, Dunnamanagh, Glenelly Valley, Park, Strabane North and Strabane West. [2] Sperrin forms part of the West Tyrone constituencies for the Northern Ireland Assembly and UK Parliament.
It was created for the 2014 local elections, largely replacing the Glenelly DEA and the Mourne DEA which had existed since 1985.

Donemana or Dunnamanagh is a village in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland. It is 7 miles or 11 kilometres north-east of Strabane, on the banks of the Burn Dennett and at the foothills of the Sperrins. In 2001, it was the largest of the thirteen villages in the former Strabane District Council area and it had a population of 586 in the Census that year.
Artigarvan is a village and townland in County Tyrone, Northern Ireland.
The first election to the new Derry and Strabane District Council took place on 22 May 2014, as part of the Northern Ireland local elections that year.
The 2019 election to the Derry City and Strabane District Council, part of the Northern Ireland local elections on 2 May 2019, returned 40 members to the council via Single Transferable Vote.
Elections to Strabane District Council were held on 5 May 2011 on the same day as the other Northern Irish local government elections. The election used three district electoral areas to elect a total of 16 councillors.
The 2023 election to Derry City and Strabane District Council was held on 18 May 2023, alongside other local elections in Northern Ireland, two weeks after local elections in England. The Northern Ireland elections were delayed by 2 weeks to avoid overlapping with the coronation of King Charles III.
