Spirit is an upcoming Indian Telugu-language action thriller film written, directed, and edited by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The film stars Prabhas marking his 25th cinematic outing and his first time playing a police officer. Jointly produced by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures, the film features an ensemble cast including Triptii Dimri and South Korean star Ma Dong-seok in his Indian debut.
The film follows the story of a former IPS officer (portrayed by Prabhas), who was dismissed from service based on circumstantial evidence. Coming from a middle-class background, the protagonist faces internal moral conflicts while navigating the criminal underworld. Despite these struggles, he maintains his integrity and stays on the right side of the law as he works to dismantle a massive international criminal syndicate.
The start of official work on Spirit was in the last quarter of 2021, but the process was prolonged because Vanga was still working on Animal . At first, Deepika Padukone was considered for the female lead role, but she was eventually dropped from consideration over her demands of working in 8-hour shifts post-maternity and paying for her miscellaneous expenses. Triptii Dimri was announced as the female lead in May 2025, marking her second collaboration with Vanga after Animal (2023).
Principal photography began on 27 November 2025, in Hyderabad, with a formal launch. The event was graced with the presence of the veteran actor Chiranjeevi. Notably, Vanga called off the crew's New Year holidays in 2026 to ensure the film's theatrical release stays on track. Cinematographer Raj Thota, who filmed Vanga's debut Arjun Reddy (2017), was announced as the cinematographer.
The marketing campaign for the movie started on January 1, 2026, with the unveiling of a "cult" first-look poster at midnight. The image depicted a wounded long-haired Prabhas pouring a glass while Triptii Dimri igniting his cigarette, and it became an instant hit on social media.
Spirit is planned as a "Pan-World" release, with the makers aiming to distribute the film in nine languages, including Telugu, Hindi, Japanese, and Korean. It is currently slated for a theatrical release on 5th March, 2027.
