Nordwestmecklenburg is a Kreis (district) in the north-western part of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. It is situated on the coast of the Baltic Sea and borders on Schleswig-Holstein to the west. Neighboring districts are Rostock, Ludwigslust-Parchim and the district-free city Schwerin, and the district Lauenburg and the district-free city Lübeck in Schleswig-Holstein. The district seat is the town Wismar.
Ludwigslust is a former Kreis (district) in the southwest of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Neighboring districts were Nordwestmecklenburg, the district-free city Schwerin, Parchim, Prignitz in Brandenburg, Lüchow-Dannenberg and Lüneburg in Lower Saxony and the district Lauenburg in Schleswig-Holstein. The district was disbanded at the district reform of September 2011. Its territory has been part of the Ludwigslust-Parchim district since.
The Schweriner Fernsehturm is a 136.5-metre-tall communications tower built of steel-concrete between 1960 and 1964 in Schwerin, Germany. Unlike most other TV towers, the ground plan is a spherical triangle and not a cylindric cross section. Also its tower basket, which also contains a restaurant, has no round form, but looks instead like a triangle with round sides. From 1991 to November 28, 1999, the restaurant was closed. In the neighbourhood of this tower at 53°35'30,98" N and 11°27'19,8" E, there is a 273-metre-high, radio mast for FM-radio and TV.
Spoitgendorf is a village in the district of Rostock in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) in Germany. It has a population of approximately 200 people and is around 30 kilometres far away from Rostock. As of 2005, Spoitgendorf is part of the municipality of Plaaz. The "Spoitgendorf Castle" is an important building in this village.
Walfisch is an uninhabited German island, in the Bay of Mecklenburg in the Baltic Sea. It lies approximately 4.5 kilometres (2.8 mi) north of the city of Wismar, south of the island of Poel. The island is very flat and has a maximum circumference of about 500 by 300 metres, a surface area of 20 hectares and is a nature reserve.

The only remnants of the ruined castle are parts of an earthen wall. Some scholars have associated Mecklenburg with the medieval trading emporium Reric.

Ludwigslust Palace is a stately home or schloss in the town of Ludwigslust, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, northern Germany. It was built as a hunting lodge, rebuilt as a luxurious retreat from the ducal capital, Schwerin, then became for a time (1765–1837) the center of government. It was the "joy" of Prince Christian Ludwig, the heir of the Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, hence the name Ludwigslust.
Schelfstadt is a central quarter of the city of Schwerin, capital of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern state of Germany.
The Mecklenburg State Theatre is the principal theatre of Schwerin in Germany. Its main theatre seats 650 people and is used for the performance of plays, opera, musical theatre and ballet. Designed by Georg Daniel, the present building was built between 1883 and 1886 after the previous court theatre had been destroyed by fire in 1882. It was inaugurated on 3 October 1886 with a performance of Gluck's Iphigénie en Aulide with Marie Wittich in the title role. The complex also includes the State Museum in Schwerin and a 240-seat concert hall, now used for performances of chamber works.

The Groß Raden Archaeological Open Air Museum lies a few kilometres north of the small town of Sternberg and about a kilometre northeast of the village of Groß Raden in the German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The site is in a depression that borders directly onto the lake of Radener See. On a peninsula in front of that lies its circular castle rampart, visible from afar, which has a diameter of 50 metres. From 1973 to 1980 extensive excavations were carried out here, led by Ewald Schuldt, during the course of which the remnants of a Slavic settlement dating to the 9th and 10th centuries was unearthed. The fort has been reconstructed based on the excavations and established as an archaeological open-air museum. It has been enhanced by finds from the Slavic castle of Behren-Lübchin.
The Mecklenburg-Vorpommern State Museum of Technology was founded in 1961 in Schwerin as the Polytechnic Museum and was located in several rooms within Schwerin Castle. Later, it moved to the Marstall buildings next to the castle.
