Squash is a racket-and-ball sport played by two or four players in a four-walled court with a small, hollow, rubber ball. The players alternate in striking the ball with their rackets onto the playable surfaces of the four walls of the court. The objective of the game is to hit the ball in such a way that the opponent is not able to play a valid return. There are about 20 million people who play squash regularly world-wide in over 185 countries. The governing body of squash, the World Squash Federation (WSF), is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), but the sport is not part of the Olympic Games, despite a number of applications. Supporters continue to lobby for its incorporation in a future Olympic program. The Professional Squash Association (PSA) organizes the pro tour.
The World Squash Championships are squash events for men and women organised by the Professional Squash Association. The men's event was first held in 1976 in London, England and the women's was inaugurated in 1976 in Brisbane, Australia.
The Professional Squash Association (PSA) is the governing body for the men's and women's professional squash circuit. The body operates in a similar fashion to the ATP and the WTA for tennis. The PSA's highest professional level, the PSA World Tour involves over 200 tournaments annually around the world. Over 800 players from all the 5 continents are registered with the PSA and rankings are updated monthly based on players' performances.
Dipika Pallikal Karthik is an Indian professional squash player. She is the first Indian to break into the top 10 in the PSA Women's rankings.
The WSF World Team Squash Championships are an international squash competition organised by the World Squash Federation (WSF) and played between teams representing different nations. Countries enter teams of three or four players to represent them in the championships. In each round of the competition, teams face each other in a best-of-three singles matches contest. The competition is held once every two years, with the venue changing each time. Normally the men's and women's events are held in different years in two locations.
The Tournament of Champions is an annual international squash championship held in New York City. In recent years, the event has been held at Grand Central Terminal, in a specially-constructed four-walled glass court in the Vanderbilt Hall.
Raneem Mohamed Yasser Saad El Din El Welily is a former professional squash player from Egypt. She has reached a career-high world ranking of No. 1 in September 2015. She is a three-time finalist at the World Open, in 2014, 2016, and 2019/2020. She became the World Champion in 2017, after defeating Nour El Sherbini in the finals.

Laura Jane Massaro is a retired professional squash player from England.
Nour El Sherbini is an Egyptian professional squash player. She is a six time World champion and became the youngest woman to win the Women's World Championship (2015). In 2016, she retained her title and in 2019 won her third World Championship equalling the feat of Michelle Martin and rising to equal fourth in the all-time list of world championships won. She is the current world champion after winning the 2021/2022 edition of the tournament.
Nour El Tayeb is a professional squash player who represents Egypt. She reached a career-high world ranking of three in March, 2018.
Joelle King is a professional squash player who represents New Zealand. She reached a career-high world ranking of World No. 4 in April 2014.
US Squash is the national governing body for the sport of squash in the United States. The 2014 Women's World Team Squash Championships was the women's edition of the 2014 World Team Squash Championships, which is the world team championship for squash players. The event was held in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Canada, from December 1 to December 6, 2014. The tournament was organized by the World Squash Federation and Squash Canada. The England team won its seventh World Team Championships, beating the Malaysian team in the final.
Hania El Hammamy is an Egyptian professional squash player. She became a top seed in women's junior squash rankings at the age of 16. As of January 2022, she is ranked number 3 in the world.
The 2018 Women's World Team Squash Championships was the women's edition of the 2018 World Team Squash Championships, which serves as the world team championship for squash players. The event held in Dalian, China took place from 11 to 19 September 2018. The tournament was organized by the World Squash Federation and the Chinese Squash Association. The Egypt team won its fourth World Team Championships, beating the England team in the final.
The 2019–20 PSA Women's World Squash Championship was the 2019–20 women's edition of the World Squash Championships, which serves as the individual world championship for squash players. The event took place in Cairo, Egypt from 24 October to 1 November 2019.
