Sreedham Sreeangon or Sriangan is an Ashram set up by Prabhu Jagadbandhu of the Mahanam Sampraday in Faridpur, Bangladesh in 1899 C.E. [1] This ashram is the headquarters of the Mahanam Sampraday in Bangladesh. During the Bangladesh liberation war of 1971 the Pakistani Army killed 8 monks in the Ashram while they were praying and damaged the ashram. [2] Janmastami is celebrated with great religious fervour every year. A procession in honour of the Hindu God Krishna is taken through the town. [3]

Faridpur District is a district in south-central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka Division. It is bounded by the Padma River to its northeast. The district was named after Farīd-ud-Dīn Masʿūd, a 13th century Sufi saint. A separate district was created by severing Dhaka district in 1786 and was called Dacca Jelalpur. Kal Bhairab Temple is a Hindu temple, dedicated to the God Shiva, located in Medda in the Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh. The temple is famed for the giant Shivalinga, a 28-feet tall Shiva statue assumed to be the largest in the world. Though the Hindu Lord Shiva, who is called the Kal Bhairab is the main attraction, Goddess Kali is also worshipped there. The statue of Kali is situated on the right side of the Kal Bhairab and the statue of the Goddess Parvati is placed on the left. The temple is a major pilgrimage place for Shaivites in Bangladesh.

The Madhyapara Massacre refers to the alleged massacre of unarmed Hindu residents of Madhyapara and other nearby villages under the authority of the Palong police station in the Faridpur district, by the Pakistani army on 22 May 1971. An estimated 370 people were killed in the massacre. In 1971, the villages of Madhyapara, Kashabhog & Rudrakar were under the authority of the Palong police station of Madaripur sub-division in Faridpur District. They are now under the jurisdiction of the Shariatpur municipality in Shariatpur Sadar Upazila of Shariatpur District. The three villages at the time were largely Hindu-inhabited and Madhyapara was totally Hindu.

Sree Sree Chatteshwari Kali Temple is a Hindu temple is dedicated to the Goddess Kali located in the centre of Chittagong city in Bangladesh. It was built in the 18th Century. The goddess of the temple is considered the guardian deity of the town Chittagong, according to Hindu belief. This temple was damaged by Pakistani soldiers during the Bangladesh liberation war. The temple was rebuilt by the Chakraborty family. The previous idol was made of neem wood which was nearly destroyed during the war. Only upper portion of the idol was rescued by a member of Chakraborty family after the war ended. The half neem wood idol is still there in the temple. After the war ended the temple was rebuilt by the family and a new statue was established which was made in Benaras and taken to the temple from India by air by a member of Chakraborty family named Tarapada Adhikary also known as Tarapada Chakraborty. The statue was donated by Tarun Kanti Ghosh and his family -ex minister of West Bengal.

Dr. Mahanambrata Brahmachari was a Hindu monk who headed the Mahanam Sampraday in present-day Bangladesh. A yogi and monk of Mahauddharan order, a school of Bengal, he was a philosopher, writer and religious master.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Prabhu Jagadbandhu</span>

Prabhu Jagadbandhu was a religious leader of Bengal. He spent much of his life meditating and preaching in the Sri Angan ashram in Faridpur, British India. His teachings inspired the founding of a revival movement within Bengal Vaishnavism in the last decade of the 19th century and later the Mahanam Sampraday denomination. His devotees believe that he is Lord Sri Krishna and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

Mahanam Sampraday is a Krishnaite revival movement founded in the last decade 19th century within Bengali Vaishnavism in Bengal Presidency of colonial British India and spiritually inspired by figure of Prabhu Jagadbandhu. As tradition-sampradaya and institution it was formed in early 20th century by Sripad Mahendraji Presently followers of Mahanam Sampraday are centered in West Bengal, India and throughout Bangladesh. Radha Krishna, Gour Nitai and Prabhu Jagadbandu are the chief deities worshiped by the Mahanam Sampraday.
