Sri Angan also known as Shree Angon is an Ashram set up by Prabhu Jagadbandhu the founder of Mahanam Sampradaya in Faridpur, Bengal Presidency, British India in 1899 C.E. [1] This ashram is the headquarters of the Mahanam Sampraday in Bangladesh. During the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971 the Pakistani Army killed 8 monks in the Ashram during the Sree Angan massacre while they were praying and damaged the ashram. [2] Janmastami is celebrated with great religious fervour every year. A procession in honour of the Hindu God Krishna is taken through the town. [3]

Faridpur District is a district in south-central Bangladesh. It is a part of the Dhaka Division. It is bounded by the Padma River to the northeast. The district was named for its headquarters, the city of Faridpur, which itself was named for Farīd-ud-Dīn Masʿūd, a 13th-century Sufi saint. A separate district was created by severing Dhaka district in 1786 and was called Dacca Jelalpur. A municipality was established in 1869. Historically, the town was known as Fatehabad. It was also called Haveli Mahal Fatehabad.
Faridpur Sadar Upazila is an upazila (sub-district) of Faridpur District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. It contains Faridpur city near the banks of the Padma River.
Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed was a Bangladeshi politician who served as a Member of Parliament and as the Minister of Social Welfare from 2001 to 2007. He was executed in 2015 for war crimes committed during the 1971 Liberation war of Bangladesh.
The Shri Swami Narayan Mandir, Karachi is a Hindu temple that is the only Swami Narayan temple in Pakistan. The temple is notable for its size and frontage, over 32,306 square yards (27,012 m2) on the M. A. Jinnah Road in Karachi city. The temple celebrated its anniversary of 216 years in April 2004. There is a sacred cowshed within the premises of this temple. The temple is located at the centre of a Hindu neighbourhood in Karachi. The building that housed a dharmshala for visiting devotees has now been converted to the office of the City District Government.
Kal Bhairab Temple is a Hindu temple, dedicated to the God Shiva, located in Medda in the Brahmanbaria district of Bangladesh. The temple is famed for the giant Shivalinga, a 28-feet tall Shiva statue assumed to be the largest in the world. Though the Hindu Lord Shiva, who is called the Kal Bhairab is the main attraction, Goddess Kali is also worshipped there. The statue of Kali is situated on the right side of the Kal Bhairab and the statue of the Goddess Parvati is placed on the left. The temple is a major pilgrimage place for Shaivites in Bangladesh.
Sree Sree Chatteshwari Kali Temple is a Hindu temple is dedicated to the Goddess Kali located in the centre of Chattogram (Chittagong) city in Bangladesh. It is considered one of the prominent Shakti Peethas of Bengal. The name Chattogram (Chittagong) is said to have been derived from the word Chatteshwari devi of Chatteshwari Temple. The name "Chatteshwari" means the "goddess of Chattogram". This temple was damaged by Pakistani soldiers during the Bangladesh liberation war. The temple was rebuilt by the Chakraborty family. The previous idol was made of neem wood which was nearly destroyed during the war. Only upper portion of the idol was rescued by a member of Chakraborty family after the war ended. The half neem wood idol is still there in the temple. After the war ended the temple was rebuilt by the family and a new statue was established which was made in Benaras and taken to the temple from India by air by a member of Chakraborty family named Tarapada Adhikary also known as Tarapada Chakraborty. The statue was donated by Tarun Kanti Ghosh and his family -ex minister of West Bengal.
Mahanambrata Brahmachari was a Hindu Monk and the President who headed Mahanam Sampradaya in what is now India and Bangladesh. A yogi and monk of the Mahauddharana order, a school of Bengal, he was a philosopher, writer and religious master.
Prabhu Jagadbandhu was an Indian religious leader from Bengal. He spent much of his life meditating and preaching at the Sri Angan ashram in modern India and Bangladesh. His teachings inspired the founding of a Krishnaite Hindu revival movement in the last decade of the 19th century and later on Mahanam Sampradaya, a monastic organisation. His devotees equate him with and also believes that he is Krishna and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.

Sree Angan massacre refers to the massacre of 8 Bengali Hindu sanyasis of Sri Angan monastery by the occupying Pakistani army in Faridpur, East Pakistan on 21 April 1971. Eight sannyasis were killed by the Pakistan Army in the massacre.

Mahanam Sampradaya is a monastic organisation founded in the last decade of the 19th century within Hinduism in the Bengal Presidency of colonial British India and spiritually inspired by Prabhu Jagadbandhu. As the tradition-sampradaya is also known as a Krishnaite institution and it was formed in the early 20th century by Sripad Mahendraji. Presently followers of Mahanam Sampradaya are centered in both India and Bangladesh. Radha Krishna, Gaur Nitai and Prabhu Jagadbandhu are the chief deities worshiped by the Mahanam Sampradaya.
Jandi massacre was a premediated massacre of 31 Bengali Hindus in the Jandi village of Tujarpur Union under Bhanga Upazila of Faridpur District of East Pakistan on May 2, 1971 by the occupying Pakistan Army in collaboration with the Razakars during the Bangladesh Liberation War. According to sources, 31 Bengali Hindus were killed by the Pakistani forces and the Razakars.
