The Sri Jayewardenepura General Hospital (SJGH) is a government owned, not for profit tertiary care institute which was gifted by the people of Japan, honoring the late President His Excellency J.R. Jayawardana. Established under the provision of parliament Act number 54 of 1983 and has been managed by a board of members since its inception on the 17th of September 1984.
It is located in Sri Jayewardenepura, the capital of Sri Lanka, on nearly 30 acres of beautifully landscaped garden with serene nature. This multi-specialty tertiary care Centre, offers a comprehensive full spectrum of care for the last 37 years, ranging from minor ailments to complex brain and heart surgeries at a substantially low cost. With over 1000 beds, our in-ward patient care facility is classified into three classes. Class 1 with en-suite room facility with all necessary amenities, class two consist of six bedded cubicles with one shared bathroom while the latter offers spacious non-congested separable beds with clean sanitary facilities. This allows the patient to conveniently choose their stay affordably as billing is itemized unlike in the for profit hospitals.
Singapore General Hospital is an academic health science centre as well as a tertiary referral hospital in Singapore, located next to the Bukit Merah and Chinatown districts of the Central Region. It is located close to the Outram Community Hospital (OCH), which functions as a supplementary community and rehabilitation hospital to the SGH for newly discharged patients. The University of Sri Jayewardenepura is a public university in Sri Lanka. It is in Gangodawila, Nugegoda, near Sri Jayewardenepura Kotte, the capital city. It was formed in 1958 out of the Vidyodaya Pirivena, a Buddhist educational centre which was founded in 1873 by Ven. Hikkaduwe Sri Sumangala Thera.
The Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children is a tertiary care children's hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Karapitiya Teaching Hospital located in Karapitiya, Galle is the largest Tertiary care centre in the Southern Province of Sri Lanka. It was established in 1982 and is the main training facility for the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna. The hospital consists of 1,624 beds, 54 wards and several other units. It is the third largest tertiary care hospital in the country. Karapitiya Hospital meets the health needs of people in Southern Province and also provides services to the people of the surrounding areas.
Tygerberg Hospital is a tertiary hospital located in Parow. The hospital was officially opened in 1976 and is the largest hospital in the Western Cape and the second largest hospital in South Africa, with the capacity for 1899 beds. It acts as a teaching hospital in conjunction with the Stellenbosch University's Health Science Faculty. To become a patient at Tygerberg, a person must be referred by a primary or secondary health care facility. Over 3.6 million people receive health care from Tygerberg, either directly or via its secondary hospitals, such as Paarl and Worcester Hospital. During the normal working day there are about 10,000 people on hospital grounds.
The National Hospital of Sri Lanka is a government hospital in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Founded in 1864 as the General Hospital, it is the leading hospital in Sri Lanka and is controlled by the central government. The hospital has 18 intensive care units and 21 operating theaters and 3,404 beds. It employs 7,500 staff of which 1,500 are doctors. The hospital carries out 5,000 major and minor surgeries each month and treats over two million out patients a year. Situated on a 36-acre site, it includes the Dental Institute, Maligawatte Kidney Hospital, Nurse's Training School, Post Basic Nurse's Training School, School of Eco Cardiograph, School of Physiotherapy, School of Radiography and the University of Colombo's Faculty of Medicine.
