The Sri Lanka Media Training Institute (SLMTI) is an autonomous establishment under the Ministry of Mass Media and Information. [1] [2] It was founded in 1984; as the Sri Lankan Television Training Institute to train professionals in the field of television. [1] [3] The institute was run in collaboration with Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) of Bonn, Federal Republic of Germany, Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation (SLRC), and Sri Lanka Foundation Institute (SLFI). [1] At present as the SLMTI the institute has widened its mandate to offers certificates, Diplomas and higher Diplomas in all disciplines related to Mass Media. The Chairman of SLMTI is Dr. Dharmasena Pathiraja [4] who is a Sri Lankan film director, screenwriter and an academic.

The Institute of Mass Communication Film and Television Studies (IMCFTS) is an institute of mass communication, journalism and film studies in Prince Anwar Shah Road, Kolkata. Government Film and Television Institute

The Government Film & Television Institute, Bangalore is believed as the first government institute in India to start technical courses related to films. Ru-Sankya

Ru-Sankya is the Digital Terrestrial Television Broadcasting Network Project undertaken by the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL). It set a target to introduce digital technology television broadcasting in “Mahinda Chintana” by 2017. The “Roadmap" for the Transition from Analogue to Digital was compiled with the assistance of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). GOSL decided to adopt Japanese standard, Integrated Services Digital Broadcasting Terrestrial (ISDB-T), in order to increase information accessibility for the entire country by promoting the effective utilization of frequency resources. ISDB-T will also develop communication infrastructure to enhance the accessibility of information such as: emergency warning broadcasting; road traffic information; weather reports; educational and medical information; as well as news and sports, as it is the only broadcasting standard that supports reception from mobile phones and mobile devices.

Kodithuwakku Arachchilage Lakshan Chathuranga Kodithuwakku, popularly as Chathuranga Kodithuwakku is an actor in Sri Lankan television and a model. He is best known for the role "Nimesh" in television serial Hadawathe Kathawa.

Saddha Mangala Sooriyabandara is a Sri Lankan journalist and media personality. He is best known for the television programs Angili Salakuna and Always Breakdown. He has worked as a program director, and before the public as a film and teledrama screenwriter, teledrama producer, television program director, journalist, announcer, songwriter and actor.
