Sri Reddy Yerakala, professionally known as Sri Reddy, is an Indian actress who is well known in the Telugu film and television industry. She made her debut in 2011 with Nenu Naana Abaddam, and also appeared in Aravind 2 and Zindagi. [1]

Career

Sri Reddy began her career in Nenu Nanna Abaddam, [2] directed by Govind Varha.

In 2013, she was the female protagonist in the thriller film Aravind 2 , directed by Sekhar Suri. She will appear in the upcoming Telugu movie Zindagi, [1] with Challa Sai Varun.

In August 2018, she mentioned that a biopic will be made on her life, titled Reddy Diary to be directed by Alauddin and featuring her. [3]

2021 Climax movie she acted as a minor role against G B Rajendra prasad, Sasha Singh.

Controversies

Sri Reddy participated in a nude protest on the issue of sexual exploitation in Tollywood that she alleged to be happening on a large scale. [4] The film body Movie Artistes Association (MAA) banned Sri Reddy for the protest. [5] She claimed that she was assaulted at her residence in Valasaravakkam, Chennai, by financier Subramani and his assistant Gopi. She lodged a complaint against them with the police. [6]

In response to MAA banning Reddy, Kulshrestha withdrew from his membership from the MAA. During a press conference, Kulshrestha asked the leading actors of the film industry to come out in support of women as they are portrayed fighting for women in the movies. [7] The silence from the movie industry on the issue of the casting couch was also slammed by several actors. [8] The National Human Rights Commission of India sent notices to the I&B Ministry of the Telangana government over Reddy's protest. [9]

After the protests, MAA agreed to set up a Committee Against Sexual Harassment, and also revoked the ban on her. [8]

<i>Bommarillu</i> 2006 Indian Telugu-language film by Bhaskar

Bommarillu is a 2006 Indian Telugu-language romantic comedy family drama film directed and co-written by Bhaskar in his directorial debut, and produced by Dil Raju. The film stars Siddharth, Genelia, Prakash Raj and Jayasudha. The film primarily revolves around the relationship between a father and son, in which the father's excessive concern for his son, and interference in his life, leads to the latter harbouring bitterness towards his overbearing father. The cinematography was handled by Vijay C Chakravarthy and editing done by Marthand K. Venkatesh. The music for the film was composed by Devi Sri Prasad, whose soundtrack of the film received positive reviews from critics.

Produced by Sravanthi Ravi Kishore and Krishna Chaitanya, under Sravanthi Cinematics and PR Cinemas, it stars Ram Pothineni, Sree Vishnu, Lavanya Tripathi and Anupama Parameswaran.

<i>Mahanati</i> 2018 film directed by Nag Ashwin

Mahanati is a 2018 Indian Telugu-language biographical drama film based on the life of actress Savitri. It is written and directed by Nag Ashwin, and produced by Priyanka Dutt under Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema. The film features Keerthy Suresh as Savitri while Dulquer Salmaan plays Savitri's husband Gemini Ganesan. The film also stars Samantha Akkineni and Vijay Deverakonda, along with Rajendra Prasad, Prakash Raj, and Bhanupriya who appear in supporting roles. Naga Chaitanya and Mohan Babu, among others, play guest appearances. The plot follows Savitri's life, depicting her turbulent rise to prominence, marriage with Ganesan, and subsequent fall from grace, which is viewed from the perspective of a journalist and a photographer, played by Samantha and Deverakonda respectively.

Padaala Kalyani, better known as Karate Kalyani, is an Indian character actress, comedian and harikatha artist from Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. She works predominantly in Telugu cinema.

The SIIMA Award for Best Film – Telugu is presented by Vibri media group as part of its annual South Indian International Movie Awards for Telugu films. The award was first given in 2012 for films released in 2011.
