St. Albert is a city in Alberta, Canada, located on the Sturgeon River, northwest of the City of Edmonton, the provincial capital. It was originally settled as a Métis community, and is now the second-largest city in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region. St. Albert first received its town status in 1904 and was reached by the Canadian Northern Railway in 1906. Originally separated from Edmonton by several miles of farmland, the 1980s expansion of Edmonton's city limits placed St. Albert immediately adjacent to the larger city on St. Albert's southern and eastern sides.

Ray Gibbon Drive, referred to as the West Regional Road during proposal and planning stages, is a major arterial road in St. Albert, Alberta. With the exception of the Edmonton portion of 184 Street, it is only partially constructed as a two-lane road. Currently, it is 8.2 kilometres (5.1 mi) long and runs between Anthony Henday Drive and Villeneuve Road. It was named at the official opening of Stage One in October 2007, after former mayor of St. Albert Ray Gibbon, who served from 1968 to 1974 and again in 1989. Gibbon died in 1999, but his wife and family were present for the official opening, riding in the vintage lead vehicle for the first use of the road.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) is an Alberta-based Junior A ice hockey league that belongs to the Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL). It was formed as a five-team league in 1964. The 2023–24 season began with 16 teams, however 5 teams did not finish the season after it was announced that they planned to join the BCHL in the 2024–25 season. The regular season league champions receive the Dave Duchak Trophy. The playoff champions receive the Inter Pipeline Cup. The winner of the AJHL playoffs continues on to play in the Centennial Cup tournament, which determines Canadian Junior A champion.

Lorne Akins Junior High is a school in St. Albert, Alberta that teaches students in grades seven through nine. The school is named for the farmer that owned the property on which the school is currently built, first opening in 1963 as Paul Kane High School. However, in 1973 Paul Kane moved to another building, and the Lorne Akins building opened in April 1973 as a junior high, replacing the previous junior high Sir Alexander Mackenzie, which turned into an elementary school. The current principal of the school is Derek Herman, and Jennifer Suriano is the assistant principal. who took over from principal Graham Jackson. Notable alumni from the school include NHL star Jarome Iginla. The school is well known for its wrestling team the Crush, which produced nine different national champions under the 34 year coaching tenure of teacher Barrie Schulha, who retired in 2012. His wrestling program was the longest running continuous sports program at a junior high in St. Albert.

The district is one of the 87 districts mandated to return a single member (MLA) to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first past the post method of voting. Jesse Lipscombe is a Canadian actor. Best known for his role of Mance on Netflix's Black Summer and Coach Allen on My Life With the Walter Boys of the same streaming service. He won a Rosie Award for Best Performance by an Alberta Actor for his performance in the 2017 film, It's Not My Fault and I Don't Care Anyway. and was one of the executive producers of the sketch comedy show Tiny Plastic Men for which he was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for Best Comedy Series at the 3rd Canadian Screen Awards. Lipscombe is also the founder of the #MakeitAwkward campaign, a hashtag movement in Edmonton that promotes anti-racism. He is a best-selling author with his Harper Collins published book, The Art of Doing and Jars, published by Friensen Press.
