The USL Second Division was a professional men's soccer league in the United States, operated by United Soccer Leagues (USL). It was at the third tier of soccer in the United States, behind Major League Soccer and the USL First Division, and one step up from the USL Premier Development League and other leagues in the fourth tier.

Brian Kamler is an American soccer coach and former player who is currently the head coach of Green Bay Voyageurs FC in USL League Two. As a player, he played two seasons in the USISL, winning the 1995 U.S. Open Cup and league titles with the Richmond Kickers, and ten seasons in Major League Soccer.
Desmond Kevin Armstrong is an American former soccer defender and midfielder, who was a member of the United States national team from 1987 to 1994. He played three seasons in the Major Indoor Soccer League, part of one in the Brazilian First Division, two in the American Professional Soccer League and two in USISL.
Detroit Wheels were a United States soccer team based in Detroit, Michigan, that played in the USISL for two seasons. Owned by Antonio Soave and Greg Reynolds, the team was established in 1994. At the time the ownership intended to move up to the American Professional Soccer League for the 1995 season. However, mounting debts and a smaller than expected fan base saw them remain in the USISL. Wheels played the 1994 season in Wisner Stadium and were coached first by Mark Christenson and then by Mike Francis. The team was captained by Steve Burns, the current men's head soccer coach of the University of Michigan. The team was replaced in the USISL in 1996 by Detroit Dynamite.
The Philadelphia Freedom was a soccer club that competed in the USISL and the USISL Pro League. The team was known as the Pennsylvania Freedom through the 1995/96 indoor season before changing its name prior to the 1996 outdoor season. The team folded at the end of the 1997 season.
