St. Mary IC School is a Roman Catholic K-8 school in Guttenberg, Iowa, United States. It formerly had a high school division that operated from 1921 to 1968. It is within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dubuque.
The early clergy for this French and German immigrant people were missionaries traveling the Mississippi as early as 1833. The first resident pastor, Rev. G.H. Plahte, was assigned in 1851. The most significant pastor, in relation to St. Mary School, was Rev. J. H. Brinkmann, who built the present (junior high) brick structure in 1894 and the high school addition in 1921. In 1894 the enrollment was 160, with four Sisters teaching.
The school opened in 1853, and it received a two-story facility in 1860. It had 72 students in 1882. The school had four faculty, all nuns, and 160 students in 1894, when the current building was constructed at a cost of $5000. [1] The brick building had a bluff stone basement and was at the dimensions 50 feet (15 m) by 70 feet (21 m). Groundbreaking was June 13, 1894. [2]
Initially a grade school, it received a high school section which had its building constructed in 1921 and in 1925 received accreditation. A new elementary building was constructed in 1962 for $130,000. In 1968, Immaculate Conception School in North Buena Vista merged into St. Mary's and the high school closed. [1] The high school closed as part of the Archdiocesan reorganization of schools. [3]

Through the years, Sisters of various communities have staffed St. Mary School: Franciscan Sisters of Perpetual Adoration from LaCrosse, Sisters of St. Francis of Dubuque, Sisters of Notre Dame of Omaha, Sisters of Mercy from Detroit and Sisters of Charity, BVM, of Dubuque.

The reason for the close proximity of the two parishes was that St. Mary was originally built for service to German families of Dubuque, and St. Patrick's provided services for the Irish settlers to Dubuque.

St. Mary's Catholic Church, also known as St. Mary of the Visitation Church, is a parish church of the Diocese of Davenport which is located in Iowa City, Iowa, United States. The church building and rectory were listed together on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. They were both included as contributing properties in the Jefferson Street Historic District in 2004. The parish's first rectory, which is now a private home, is also listed on the National Register as St. Mary's Rectory. It is located a few blocks to the east of the present church location at 610 E. Jefferson St.

The parish was known in the Davenport Diocese as Saints Peter and Paul, Clear Creek.

Sacred Heart Church is located at 23rd Street and Ave I.

The St. Joseph's Church Complex is a collection of historic buildings located in Fort Madison, Iowa, United States. At one time the complex housed a Catholic parish in the Diocese of Davenport. St. Joseph and St. Mary of the Assumption parishes merged in the 1990s to form Saints Mary and Joseph Parish. In 2007 when that parish merged with Sacred Heart on the west side to form Holy Family Parish, St. Joseph's Church was closed. The former church, chapel, rectory, convent, and school were included as contributing properties in the Park-to-Park Residential Historic District that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
The Church of St. Augustine is a Roman Catholic church located in Larchmont, New York. The parish having been founded in 1892, the present Gothic Revival church building was constructed in 1928.
