Stanislav Luca (born 28 June 1986) is a Moldovan football manager and former player who is currently the assistant head coach of the Moldova U19 national team.

Playing career

Born in Chișinău, Moldova, Luca started his career with Zimbru Chișinău, where he made his senior debut in the 2003–04 season. He later spent eight seasons with Rapid Ghidighici from 2007 to 2014, [1] after which he played for Costuleni, Spicul Chișcăreni and Ungheni. He finished his playing career with Sfîntul Gheorghe in 2017. [2]

Managerial career

In December 2017, he became a coach at Sfîntul Gheorghe. [1] In 2018, he was the head coach of the reserve team of the club. In 2019, he was appointed assistant coach of the first team, a position he held until he was appointed head coach in September 2021. [3]

The 2016–17 Moldovan Cup was the 26th season of the Moldovan annual football tournament. Zaria Bălți entered as the defending champions after winning the 2015–16 edition. The competition started on 20 August 2016 with the first preliminary round and concluded with the final at the Zimbru Stadium on 25 May 2017. Sheriff won a record 9th title following a 5–0 win over Zaria in the final. As winners, Sheriff would have been assured a place for the 2017–2018 UEFA Europa League first qualifying round; however, since they already qualified for the 2017–2018 UEFA Champions League second qualifying round by winning the title in the Divizia Națională, the Europa League entry went to Zaria Bălți, the highest team in the Divizia Națională table which had not already qualified for European competitions.

The 2022–23 season was FC Sheriff Tiraspol's 26th season, and their 25th in the Divizia Naţională, the top-flight of Moldovan football. Sheriff are defended their Divizia Naţională title for the eighth season in a row, whilst also winning the Moldovan Cup to complete a domestic double. In European competition, Sheriff reached the Third Qualifying Round of the UEFA Champions League, dropping into the UEFA Europa League Group Stages where they finished third progressing into the UEFA Europa Conference League where they were knocked out by Nice at the Round of 16 stage.
