Star Search 2003 is the 8th installment of Star Search. From March 2003, auditions started in three countries, Singapore, Malaysia and China to search for Chinese language-speaking acting talent. Selected contestants are provided training for a final selection in each country. Each of the 3 countries selects 4 Star Search contestants (2 male, 2 female) to compete at the Grand Finals on June 29 in Singapore.

During the 3-hour power-packed competition, the 12 finalists competed in the areas of star appeal, acting, singing and dancing, and hosting.
But what’s different this year is that viewers will have a hand in deciding the winner too. They can vote for the best contestant via SMS, contributing the remaining 10% of the total score.

Idol is a reality television singing competition format created by British television producer Simon Fuller and developed by Fremantle. The format began in 2001 with the British television series Pop Idol; its first adaptation was the South African series Idols in 2002. It has since become the world's most widely watched television franchise, as well as one of the most successful entertainment formats, adapted in over 56 regions around the world, with its various versions broadcast to 150 countries with a worldwide audience of roughly 3.2 billion people. The franchise has generated more than $2.5 billion in revenue.
Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd was a Singaporean sitcom. The sitcom centres on an eccentric general contractor with his trademark yellow boots, curly afro hair and large facial mole. While it carries the traditions of a sitcom, many unusual elements were used such as flashbacks, quick gags and celebrity cameo appearances. It is also the second locally produced English sitcom after Under One Roof. It paved the way for the third and final future Singaporean local sitcom named Police & Thief. It is also one of the most popular sitcoms in Singapore just like the other 2 popular Singaporean local sitcom and drama Under One Roof and Growing Up respectively.
Chew Chor Meng is a Singaporean actor, television host and businessman. He is one of the first batch of actors to receive the Star Awards for All-Time Favourite Artiste in 2004.
Star Search is a television show from 1988 to 2019 organised by Mediacorp to scout for Chinese language-speaking acting talent.
Ann Kok is a Singaporean actress, businesswoman and singer. During the 1990s, Kok was ranked the "Third Ah Jie" by the local media, which defined her as the third most prominent actress in Singapore's Chinese-language entertainment industry of that time, after Zoe Tay and Fann Wong.

One Million Star is a television singing competition in Taiwan broadcast on China Television (CTV). It debuted on 5 January 2007, filling the 10 pm to midnight time slot on Friday evenings. The show is hosted by Tao Ching-Ying (陶晶瑩) and is currently shown on Sundays from 8 to 10 pm. The aim of the show is to gather talented young singers and find the one who has the best qualities to become a superstar. One Million Star launched the music careers of Mandopop artists such as Yoga Lin, Aska Yang, Wong JingLun and Jam Hsiao.
Campus SuperStar is a Singaporean television music competition to find new singing talent. Contestants are students from secondary schools, junior colleges and institutes of technical education. The first season began airing on MediaCorp Channel U on 2 January, 2006 and ended on 3 April, 2006. The original lineup of judges were Foong Wai See, Cavin Soh and Peter Tan. Li Feihui was brought in as the fourth judge in the first week of semi-final. Hong Junyang, Dasmond Koh and Sugianto hosted the show.
The second season of the Singaporean reality talent show Project SuperStar began on 8 November 2006 on MediaCorp Channel U. The show is hosted by Quan Yi Fong and Jeff Wang. The overall winner received talent management contracts with Warner Music Singapore and MediaCorp. Billy Koh, Lee Wei Song, Roy Loi, Anthony Png and Dawn Yip returned as judges for their second season.
Star Search 2007 is the 9th installment of Star Search. It marked the return of the talent-search program. From May 2007, Star Search 2007 travelled to China, Taiwan, Malaysia and Singapore in its search for new talents.

The fifth season of StarStruck, aka (StarStruck V) is a Philippine television reality talent competition show, was broadcast on GMA Network. Hosted by Raymond Gutierrez, Carla Abellana and Dennis Trillo. Carla Abellana replaced Jolina Magdangal for this season, while former replaced Dingdong Dantes, as the former replaced Richard Gomez, who will run as representative of the 4th district of the Province of Leyte as host of the game show Family Feud.
Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break is a 2012 reality TV series created by GMA Network. This show is the second season of Protégé where Krizza Neri won in 2011. Unlike the previous season, the age limit was set from 13 to 21 years old to find new acting talent. The show premiered on July 23, 2012 and hosted by Jennylyn Mercado and under the direction of Albert Langitan, while the Protégé Gala Night premiered on August 5, 2012, and presented by Dingdong Dantes, together with Carla Abellana and Maxene Magalona. The gala nights were directed by Rommel Gacho.

Lobang King is a Singaporean comedy drama which aired on Channel 8 in 2003. It is a spin-off of the popular long-running series Don't Worry, Be Happy (敢敢做个开心人), which had just ended its sixth and final season.

The sixth season of StarStruck, is a 2015 Philippine television reality talent competition show, was broadcast on GMA Network. Hosted by Dingdong Dantes and Megan Young, it premiered on September 7, 2015. The segment hosts are StarStruck graduates Mark Herras, Miguel Tanfelix, Kris Bernal, and Rocco Nacino, and they serve as journey hosts, who are tasked to join the hopefuls as they go through every phase of the competition. The council was composed of Joey de Leon, Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Jennylyn Mercado and Dantes is also part of the council. The season ended with 76 episodes on December 19, 2015, having Migo Adecer and Klea Pineda as the Ultimate Survivors.

Star Search 2019 is the 11th installment of the long-running Chinese talent competition Star Search, hosted by Mediacorp, since 1988. This was the first season of Star Search since 2010, returning after a nine-year hiatus. The grand prize includes a Mediacorp management contract and an Audi Q2 SUV.
Jarrell Huang Jun Rong is a Singaporean singer, actor and songwriter. In 2018, he was crowned champion of the local singing competition SPOP Sing!. In 2020, he participated in the Chinese male group competition show We Are Young.
