Velekete Slave Market

The Velekete Slave Market is a market located in Badagry, Lagos State. Established in 1502 and named after the Velekete deity, the market was significant during the Trans-Atlantic Slave trade in Badagry, as it served as a business point where African middlemen sold slaves to European slave merchants, thus making it one of the most populous slave markets in West Africa.

One Million Boys is the code-name of a robbery gang known for its notorious robbery activities around Lagos and its surroundings. Originally formed in Ajegunle by a group of about 20 boys with the objective of "fighting perceived injustice in the city", some members of the group however hijacked the group into being involved in robbery activities, rape and maiming. A movie titled 1 Million Boyz was released in 2014 based on their thefts and activities. On October 9, 2012, about 130 suspected members of the group were arrested by the Lagos State Police Command during a raid around Apapa and Ajegunle.

Akinsanya Sunny Ajose is a Nigerian politician and public administrator. He served as Lagos State Head of Service from July 2004–February 2006.

Seriki Williams Abass

Chief Seriki Williams Abass was a renowned slave merchant during the 19th century who became the "Paramount Ruler" of Badagry within the indirect rule structure established by the British.

Oba Claudius Dosa Akran was a Nigerian politician and traditional title holder who represented Badagry in parliament in 1951 and held the title of Aholu Jiwa II of Jegba. He was a member of the Action Group during the pre-independence period and was appointed regional Minister of Local Government and Economic Planning in 1952. He was an influential member of the party and was regional Minister of Finance from 1962 to 1966.

Apa is a historic community in Badagry division of Lagos State. It is one of the oldest settlements in Badagry. The community has an Oba, the Alapa of Apa. The majority of people from Apa are of Awori and Ogu heritage.

The Anglican Diocese of Badagry is one of 13 within the Anglican Province of Lagos, itself one of 14 provinces within the Church of Nigeria. The current bishop is Joseph Adeyemi.
