Stefanie Giesinger (born 27 August 1996) is a German model. She was the winner of the ninth season of the modeling-competition Germany's Next Topmodel , and was on the cover of the German Cosmopolitan in June 2014.
Giesinger was born in Kaiserslautern. [2] Her parents are ethnic German and emigrated from Siberia to Germany in 1995, a year before her birth. [3] She has primary ciliary dyskinesia [4] and had to undergo an emergency operation at the age of 13.
After winning Germany's Next Topmodel in 2014, she was signed to Günther Klum's modelling agency ONEeins. She did not extend her two-year contract. [5] In 2014, she was cast for the movie Der Nanny , which was released in 2015. [6] She was also cast for the music video to the song "80 Millionen" by German artist Max Giesinger (not related), [7] [8] and walked for Dolce & Gabbana during Milan Fashion Week 2017. [9] In 2018, she was honoured as "Idol of the Year" at the About You Awards held by German fashion online retailer About You. [10]
Between 2016 and 2022 she was in a relationship with the British YouTuber Marcus Butler. [11]
Germany's Next Topmodel is a German reality television series, based on a concept introduced by Tyra Banks with America's Next Top Model. The competition is hosted by Heidi Klum who also serves as the lead judge and executive producer of the show. It is currently the longest-airing Top Model adaptation at 18 years and the second Top Model series to have the most cycles. The show is heavily criticized in Germany because of the treatment of its contestants. The allegations include Gaslighting, Abuse of power, misrepresentation of contestants and Manipulations by the crew as well as Body shaming. The show is also accused of being responsible for the Cyberbullying and death threats against the contestants due to the edit's misrepresentation of them and of not doing anything about the Hate. That's why the show is also in the focus of the Commission for Youth Media Protection and the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth.
