Stefano Chiesa (born 25 May 1996) is an Italian athlete who specialises in race walking. [1]
From Verbania, he had achieved the Olympic qualifying standard for the 50 km race walk in October 2019 in the Tilburg 50 km, with a time of 3:48:25. In November 2019 however, he injured a metatarsal in a national training camp in Tuscany. [2] The time he recorded was described as remarkable as it was 23 minutes faster than his previous best time of 4:11:07. [3] Chiesa was named in the Italian squad for the World Race Walking Championships in 2022 held in Muscat. [4]
Racewalking, or race walking, is a long-distance discipline within the sport of athletics. Although a foot race, it is different from running in that one foot must appear to be in contact with the ground at all times. Race judges carefully assess that this is maintained throughout the race. Typically held on either roads or running tracks, common distances range from 3,000 metres (1.9 mi) up to 100 kilometres (62.1 mi).

The 1952 Giro d'Italia was the 35th edition of the Giro d'Italia, one of cycling's Grand Tours. On 24 July 2022, Stano won the 2022 World Athletics Championships with a championship record.

He came 36th with a time of 1:27.55., nearly 4 minutes off his PB This was 6:50 behind the eventual winner Massimo Stano of Italy.
