Steinkjer-Avisa is a weekly, local newspaper published in Steinkjer, Norway. In 2007, it had a circulation of 3,917, [1] and was published each Friday. [2]

The newspaper was founded in 1984 by Lothar Viem. In 1999, the Viem family sold to the other Steinkjer newspaper, Trønder-Avisa , but retains its own editor, offices, employees and board of directors. [2]

Trønder-Avisa is a regional newspaper in Norway. It is printed in the town of Steinkjer in Nord-Trøndelag. The newspaper was founded as a union of Nord-Trøndelag and Inntrøndelagen after both newspapers' headquarters were bombed during the Second World War. These two papers were originally connected to the Norwegian Centre Party and the Liberal Party (Inntrøndelagen). This connection still exists to some extent by ownership. The newspaper is published by a company with the same name, Trønder-Avisa Group. The company also owns the local papers Inderøyningen, Steinkjer-Avisa, Lokalavisa Verran-Namdalseid, Ytringen and Snåsningen.

Centre of Norway

The geographical centre of Norway has been identified as a spot in the Ogndalsfjella in the southeastern part of the municipality of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county, located at 63°59′26″N12°18′28″E. A monument marking the significance of the spot was unveiled in a ceremony on 3 September 2006, with the hope that it would become a tourist attraction. The site lies just to the west of the large lake Skjækervatnet.

Gevingåsen Tunnel

Gevingåsen Tunnel is a 4.4-kilometer (2.7 mi) single track railway tunnel between the villages of Hommelvik and Hell in Trøndelag county, Norway. The tunnel is located along the Nordland Line. Blasting started in 2009, and the tunnel opened on 15 August 2011, having cost 635 million kr. Built by the Norwegian National Rail Administration, the tunnel has shortened travel time south of Stjørdal by five minutes and increased the capacity of the Trondheim–Stjørdal to four trains per hour in each direction.
