Stenstaden, the Stone City, is the name of the historical centre of Sundsvall in Sweden. It consists of stone buildings, several of those in Art Nouveau style, which were built after the 1888 Sundsvall Fire. Stenstaden is structured in an orthogonal grid system of rectangular city blocks in the east-south-eastern part of Sundsvall. [1]

Sundsvall–Timrå Airport is about 21 km north of Sundsvall, 8 km east of Timrå and 32 km south of Härnösand, Sweden. The airport is also known as Midlanda, referring to its geographically central location in Sweden. The airport was known under the name Sundsvall–Härnösand Airport until the municipalities of Sundsvall and Timrå obtained the ownership of the airport from Swedavia on June 17, 2013. Sundsvall–Timrå Airport is Norrland's sixth-busiest airport and Sweden's fifteenth busiest. The airport counted 282,047 passengers in 2011 and 273,527 in 2018.

HSwMS <i>Sundsvall</i> (J12) Swedish destroyer

HSwMS Sundsvall (J12) was a Swedish destroyer, later rebuilt as a frigate, in the four-ship Visby class. The ship was named after the Swedish coastal city of Sundsvall. Sundsvall was laid down in 1942 during the Second World War, and was commissioned on 17 September 1943. She survived the war, and was modified and redesigned as a frigate in 1965. She was kept in service by the Swedish Navy until 1982, and was then used for testing of the Navy's RBS-15 anti-ship missile. The ship was later sold to Spain for scrapping.

The Great Fire of Umeå took place in 1888 and destroyed most of the city of Umeå in Sweden. The unusual windy weather conditions also contributed to two other fires on the same day in Sweden. Umeå took the opportunity to complete its plans to restructure the city. Part of the new design included planting of birch trees along the streets, leading to Umeå being known as the "City of Birches".

The 1888 Sundsvall fire was a fire in Sundsvall, Sweden on 25 June 1888. The fire occurred during a storm, allowing the fire to spread fast among the wooden houses in town. The same day, a fire also occurred in Umeå.
