Stephan "Lillis" Lundh (born 6 November 1959 in Stockholm, Sweden) is a Swedish ice hockey coach.
Stephan's coaching career started in 1989 in Nacka. He was an assistant coach in Djurgården between 1990 and 1998, Tre Kronor and then Malmö IF 1999 to 2004 and Frölunda HC 2004 to 7 November 2006. [1]

Before winning the Vezina Trophy in 2012, he was nominated in each of his first three seasons, and is the only goaltender in NHL history to record eleven 30-win seasons in his first twelve seasons. He holds the record for most wins by a European-born goaltender in the NHL. His dominating play during his rookie season resulted in the New York media and Rangers fans giving him the nickname "King Henrik". During the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, he led the Swedish men's team to their second Olympic gold medal.
Västra Frölunda Idrottsförening is a Swedish football club located in Gothenburg. It was formed on 2 January 1930 and has played ten seasons in the Allsvenskan, the highest Swedish league. In the 2020 season, it plays in the fourth-highest Swedish league, Division 2 Västra Götaland. The club is affiliated to the Göteborgs Fotbollförbund.

Frölunda Hockey Club, previously known as the Frölunda Indians, is a Swedish professional ice hockey club based in Gothenburg. They currently play in the highest Swedish league, the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), formerly the Elitserien, where they have played for most of the club's existence. They last played in the lower division, the Allsvenskan, in 1995. Frölunda have won the national championship title five times: in 1965, 2003, 2005, 2016 and 2019.
Joel Per Lundqvist is a Swedish former professional ice hockey centre. He spent the majority of his career with Frölunda HC of Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and also played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the Dallas Stars from 2006 to 2009. He holds the record for most appearances in the SHL. His identical twin brother is former NHL goaltender Henrik Lundqvist.

Carl Christian "Calle" Johansson is a Swedish former assistant coach with the Washington Capitals and former professional ice hockey defenceman who played 17 seasons in the National Hockey League between 1987 and 2004, most of it with the Capitals. He has worked as hockey colour commentator for Swedish Canal+ and worked as an assistant for six seasons for Frölunda HC in the Swedish Elitserien before returning to the Capitals organization.
Ulf Reinhold Dahlén is a Swedish former professional ice hockey player, and former head coach for HV71 and Frölunda HC in the Swedish Hockey League. His son Jonathan Dahlén was drafted 42nd overall in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Erik Ronald Pettersson was a Swedish ice hockey player. He played 252 international games for Sweden between 1955 and 1967, including thirteen World Championships and three Olympic Games. Between 1951 and 1967 Pettersson played for Surahammars IF, Södertälje SK and Västra Frölunda IF. He won the Swedish championship twice, in 1956 with Södertälje and in 1965 with Västra Frölunda. He won Guldpucken in 1959–60 as the most valuable player in Swedish Championship playoffs.

The 2006–07 Frölunda HC season began with many rosters moves. 11 players were lost to other teams or retirement. 7 players were acquired to replace the players that were leaving, most notably Steve Kariya and Martin Cibák. Another two players, Joel Gistedt and Jonas Ahnelöv, were brought up from the juniors. The team's management was confident that they were going to finish in the top as they had done many previous seasons. It didn't take a long time to see that the team would not be the bona fide top team as they had been the previous seasons. Instead it was clear that they would be fighting for a playoff spot.

The award was created in honor of Arne Strömberg, and Kamratföreningen Hockeyjournalisterna is the jury which votes on the award. The award has usually gone to a coach in the top-tier league (SHL/Elitserien), although the award is not specific to the top-tier league.
