Stephen Ayensu Ntim is a Ghanaian Software Engineer, Politician and National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party. [1] He is also the board chairman of the National Petroleum Authority. Until his appointment to the board of NPA, he was National Chairperson for the Lands Commission.
Ntim had his GCE O level education at Asanteman Secondary School in Kumasi in 1997. He proceeded to the Navrongo Secondary School in the Upper East Region for his A level education and completed in 1979. [2] He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in French and Linguistics which he earned in 1984 from the University of Ghana. He also studied at the University of Minnesota, U.S., where he obtained MBA in Management Information Systems in 1991. Ntim also holds higher Diploma in French Studies from the National University of Ivory Coast. [3] He also trained as a programmer and analyst/analyst at Saint Paul Fire and Marine, Minnesota, USA.
Ntim taught French for his National Service at Kaneshie Secondary Technical School between 1984 and 1986. He started his career at Electronic Data Systems(EDS INC) in Michigan, USA, where he worked as a system engineer from 1993 to 1995. [4] Back home in Ghana, Ntim served as Director of BINSCO Associates in Accra. He is also the managing director for two companies, ESPAN Company Limited and Detroit Computer Images, all based in Accra. He is Chairman of Board of Trustees of Heritage Protection Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to safeguarding Ghanaian cultures and history. [5] He was a board member of the Electricity Company of Ghana from 2007 t0 2009.
After his party formed government in 2017 following election victory in the 2016 General Elections, Ntim was appointed the National Chairman of the Lands Commission. [6] As commissioner of Lands, he was expected to use his expertise in Management Information Systems to drive digital transformation of lands delivery services in Ghana. He served in this position until 2024 when Akufo-Addo appointed him to head the Board of the National Petroleum Authority. [7] He got sworn in to his new position on 21 May 2024 by Energy Minister, Mathew Opoku Prempeh.
Ntim was a member of the Busia-Danquah, a precursor to today's New Patriotic Party. As a founding member, he has served the NPP in various positions including as Vice Chairperson between 2001 and 2005. In July 2022, Ntim was elected National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party obtaining 4014 votes to beat his closest contender, Stephen Asamoah Boateng who got 1010 votes. Other contestants in the election were Kwabena Abankwa Yeboah, Christopher Ameyaw Ekumfi, Gifty Asantewa Ayeh, Sammy Crabbe and Akwasi Osei Adjei. They had 294, 101, 44, 32 and votes respectively. [8] Before his success, Ntim contested the chairmanship position on four previous occasions without success. His first attempt came in 2005 when he lost to Peter Mac Manu. In 2010, he contested again and lost to Jake Obetsebi Lamptey. During the 2014 delegates conference, he lost to Paul Afoko and in 2018, to Freddie Blay. [9]
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is a centre-right and liberal-conservative political party in Ghana. Since the democratisation of Ghana in 1992, it has been one of the two dominant parties in Ghanaian politics, with its leading rival being the centre-left National Democratic Congress (NDC). John Kufuor of the NPP was President of Ghana from 2001 to 2009. At the elections held on 7 December 2004, the party won 129 out of 230 seats. The NPP candidate was Kufuor, who was re-elected as president with 52.75% of the vote. The New Patriotic Party symbol is the African elephant and the New Patriotic Party colours are red, white, and blue.

She was the Minister of State, for the Ministry of works and housing, Ghana and previously served as the Deputy Gender Minister and also Assembly member – "Assembly Woman" from 2002 to 2010 for the Lakoo Electoral Area of the La-Dadekotopo Constituency in the Greater Accra Region.

From 2013 to 2017, he represented the Kwesimintsim constituency in parliament.
