Stephen Seifert (born September 29, 1973) is an American folk musician and virtuoso Appalachian dulcimer player. [1]
Seifert is internationally known and is a concert headlining performer. He was adjunct instructor of Mountain Dulcimer at Vanderbilt's Blair School of Music from 1997 to 2001. He has been a dulcimer soloist with Orchestra Nashville since 1996. He was featured on their concerto for mountain dulcimer and string orchestra with Connie Ellisor and David Schnaufer (Warner Classical recording, Blackberry Winter). Seifert has also performed this piece with the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, the Montpellier Chamber Orchestra, [2] and the Adrian Symphony Orchestra. [3] He has been called "...the world's leading dulcimer soloist..." [4]
Seifert has released many educational DVDs and videos on the subject of dulcimer playing. [5] He gives numerous dulcimer workshops in the US every year. [6]
In 2020, he became a founding member of "The Steve Seifert Project," a virtual music group composed of members who are all named, "Steve Seifert" including the Albuquerque saxophonist, Steve Seifert and the Los Angeles bassist, Steve Seifert. [7]
The Philharmonia Orchestra is a British orchestra based in London. It was founded in 1945 by Walter Legge, a classical music record producer for EMI. Among the conductors who worked with the orchestra in its early years were Richard Strauss, Wilhelm Furtwängler and Arturo Toscanini; of the Philharmonia's younger conductors, the most important to its development was Herbert von Karajan who, though never formally chief conductor, was closely associated with the orchestra in the late 1940s and early 1950s. The Philharmonia became widely regarded as the finest of London's five symphony orchestras in its first two decades.

Serenade to Music is an orchestral concert work completed in 1938 by English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams, written as a tribute to conductor Sir Henry Wood. It features an orchestra and 16 vocal soloists, with lyrics adapted from the discussion about music and the music of the spheres from Act V, Scene I from the play The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare. Vaughan Williams later arranged the piece into versions for chorus and orchestra and solo violin and orchestra.
