Stephen Shank is a director, actor, writer, set designer and artist who has worked in theatre and television. He was born of American parents in Brussels, Belgium. He is bilingual in English and French.
He currently lives in Brussels, Belgium. [1] [2]
In July 2011, he will be directing the stage world premiere of Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose in the ruins of the Cistercian Abbey of Villers-la-Ville, Belgium. [3] See Villers Abbey.

The Royal Theatre of La Monnaie is an opera house in central Brussels, Belgium. Villers Abbey is an ancient Cistercian abbey located in the town of Villers-la-Ville, in the Walloon Brabant province of Wallonia (Belgium), one piece of the Wallonia's Major Heritage. Founded in 1146, the abbey was abandoned in 1796. Most of the site has since fallen into ruins.

La Cambre Abbey or Ter Kameren Abbey is a former Cistercian abbey in the City of Brussels, Belgium. The abbey church is a Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Mechelen–Brussels and home to a community of Norbertine canons, while other parts of the monastery house the headquarters of the Belgian National Geographic Institute and La Cambre, a prestigious visual arts school.
