Stephen Skehill is an Australian lawyer and public servant. Between 1994 and 1998 he was Secretary of the Australian Government Attorney-General's Department. He is currently ethics adviser to the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Life and career

Skehill first joined the Australian Public Service in 1970, [1] in the Department of Labour and National Service. [2]

Between 1970 and 1984, he worked in a range of agencies including the Department of Business and Consumer Affairs, the Trade Practices Commission and the Department of Social Security. [2]

He was appointed a Deputy Secretary of the Attorney-General's Department in 1989, having previously been the First Assistant Secretary of Corporate Services for the Department. [1] In 1994, he became Secretary of the Department, replacing Alan Rose. [3] [2]

In 2011, he was engaged by the Department of Finance and Deregulation to lead a review of small and medium agencies in the Attorney-General's portfolio. [4] [5] In response to the review, which came to be known as the Skehill Review, [6] federal courts adopted a comprehensive shared services model and some functions were merged. [7]

In 2008, Skehill was appointed ethics and integrity advisor to the ACT Legislative Assembly, a new role. [8] [9] In 2014 in the role, Skehill recommended a register and code of ethics for lobbyists in the ACT. [10] He has also been available part-time to provide ethics and integrity advice to MLAs. [11]

The Government of the Australian Capital Territory, also referred to as the Australian Capital Territory Government or ACT Government, is the executive authority of the Australian Capital Territory, one of the territories of Australia. Shane Rattenbury Australian politician

Bernard Collaery

Bernard Joseph Edward Collaery is an Australian barrister, lawyer and former politician. Collaery was a member of the Australian Capital Territory's first Legislative Assembly for the Residents Rally party, from 1989 to 1992. He served as Deputy Chief Minister and Attorney-General from 1989 to 1991 in the Kaine Alliance Government.

Paul Russell Whalan is an Australian political lobbyist, former politician and member of the first Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly, representing Canberra for the Labor Party. Whalan was elected in 1989 and resigned from the Assembly on 30 April 1990. During his short term in the Assembly, Whalan served as the first Deputy Chief Minister and the first Minister with responsibilities for industry, employment and education in the first ACT Government led by Rosemary Follett.

Department of Infrastructure and Transport

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport was an Australian government department. It was formed in September 2010, following the federal election in August 2010. The department absorbing parts of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government. Regional development and local government functions were sent to the Department of Regional Australia, Regional Development and Local Government. Following the 2013 federal election, the department was renamed on 18 September 2013 to become the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development, regaining regional development and local government functions.

Meegan Fitzharris Australian politician

Meegan Fitzharris is a former Australian politician, who was a member of the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly for the Yerrabi electorate from October 2016 to July 2019, and before that, member for the electorate of Molonglo after she won a countback to fill the Legislative Assembly seat vacated by former Chief Minister, Katy Gallagher, in January 2015. She was the Minister for Transport and Municipal Services, Minister for Higher Education, Training and Research and Minister for Health until her resignation from politics in July 2019.
