Julio César Chávez González, also known as Julio César Chávez Sr., is a Mexican former professional boxer who competed from 1980 to 2005. A multiple-time world champion in three weight divisions, Chávez was listed by The Ring magazine as the world's best boxer, pound for pound, from 1990 to 1993. During his career he held the WBC super featherweight title from 1984 to 1987, the WBA and WBC lightweight titles between 1987 and 1989, the WBC light welterweight title twice between 1989 and 1996, and the IBF light welterweight title from 1990 to 1991. He also held the Ring magazine and lineal lightweight titles from 1988 to 1989, and the lineal light welterweight title twice between 1990 and 1996. Chávez was named Fighter of the Year for 1987 and 1990 by the Boxing Writers Association of America and The Ring respectively.
Bobby Chacon was an American professional boxer who competed from 1972 to 1988. He held titles in two weight classes, including the WBC featherweight title from September 1974 to June 1975 and the WBC super featherweight title from December 1982 to June 1983.

Boxing in the 1980s was filled with important fights, events and personalities that shaped the sport. Boxing in the 1980s was shaped by many different situations, such as the continuous corporate battles between the different world sanctioning organizations, the void left by Muhammad Ali as the sport's ambassador and consequent search for a new boxing hero, the continuous presence of Don King as the sport's most famous promoter, the surge of rival promoters as Bob Arum, Butch Lewis and Murad Muhammad, and major rule changes. In 1986, Mike Tyson emerged as a fresh new face in the heavyweight division, which had seen a decline in champion quality level after Ali's retirement and, later on, after longtime WBC ruler Larry Holmes' prime. In addition, the IBF and WBO began operating.

Jim Watt MBE is a Scottish former boxer and commentator who became world champion in the lightweight division when Roberto Durán left the title vacant in 1979 and the WBC had him fight Alfredo Pitalua. Watt knocked out Pitalua in twelve rounds.
Anthony "Tony" Willis is a Former British boxing champion winning the Lonsdale Belt out right and won a Light Welterweight Bronze medal at the 1980 Summer Olympics. As a professional, he held the British lightweight boxing title between 1985 and 1987.
Ricky Burns is a Scottish professional boxer. He is one of only three British boxers to have won world titles in three weight divisions and the first from Scotland, having held the WBO super-featherweight title from 2010 to 2011; the WBO lightweight title from 2012 to 2014; and the WBA light-welterweight title from 2016 to 2017. At regional level he held the Commonwealth super-featherweight title from 2008 to 2009, and has challenged for the British and European super-featherweight titles.
Luke Campbell is a British former professional boxer who competed from 2013 to 2021. He challenged twice for lightweight world titles; the WBA and The Ring titles in 2017; and the WBA, WBO, The Ring and vacant WBC titles in 2019. At regional level he held the WBC Silver and Commonwealth lightweight titles from 2016 to 2017. As an amateur, Campbell won gold at the 2008 European Championships, silver at the 2011 World Championships, and gold at the 2012 Olympics, all in the bantamweight division.
Robert Dickie was a Welsh professional boxer, fighting at both featherweight and super-featherweight. He was Scottish champion at featherweight, British champion at both weights and became WBC International super-featherweight champion in 1988. He is one of only four Welshmen to hold a British boxing title at different weights, the others being Johnny Basham, Pat Thomas and Jack Petersen.
Josh Taylor is a Scottish professional boxer. He is the WBO and Ring magazine light-welterweight world champion, having held the Ring title since 2019, and the WBO title since 2021. He previously held the WBA (Super) title from 2019 to May 2022; the WBC title from 2021 to July 2022; and the IBF title from 2019 to August 2022. At regional level he held the Commonwealth light-welterweight title from 2016 to 2017, and as an amateur boxer he won a lightweight silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games and light-welterweight gold at the 2014 edition.
Carl Crook is an English former professional lightweight and light welterweight boxer. As an amateur, he was runner-up in the 1985 Amateur Boxing Association of England (ABAE) lightweight championship against Eamon McAuley of Hogarth Amateur Boxing Club, As a professional, he won the Central Area lightweight title, British lightweight title, and the Commonwealth lightweight title, and was also a challenger for the EBU (European) lightweight title.

Devin Miles Haney is an American professional boxer. He is the current undisputed lightweight champion, having held the WBC title since 2019 and the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO and Ring titles since 2022. As of June 2022, he is ranked as the world's best active lightweight by the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board, first by BoxRec and first by ESPN.
Anthony Joshua vs Dillian Whyte, billed as Bad Intentions, was a heavyweight professional boxing match contested between undefeated Commonwealth and World Boxing Council (WBC) International champion Anthony Joshua, and undefeated WBC International Silver champion Dillian Whyte, with Joshua's Commonwealth and WBC International, and the vacant British titles on the line. The bout took place on 12 December 2015 at The O2 Arena in London, England. Joshua defeated Whyte, adding the British title to his Commonwealth and WBC International titles title via seventh-round technical knockout (TKO).
