Steven Jerome Carter (born December 3,1964) is an American former Major League Baseball player from Charlottesville,Virginia who appeared in 14 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1989 to 1990. A 1983 graduate of Albemarle High School, [1] Carter was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 17th round of the 1987 amateur draft out of the University of Georgia. [2]
Carter is now the Acting Executive Director of the Parks and Recreation Foundation for Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are an American professional baseball team based in Pittsburgh. The Pirates compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the National League (NL) Central division. Founded as part of the American Association in 1881 under the name Pittsburgh Alleghenys,the club joined the National League in 1887 and was a member of the National League East from 1969 through 1993. Exposition Park was the name given to three historic stadiums,located in what is today Pittsburgh,Pennsylvania. The fields were used mainly for professional baseball and American football from c. 1879 to c. 1915. The ballparks were initially located on the north side of the Allegheny River in Allegheny City,Pennsylvania. The city was annexed into Pittsburgh in 1907,which became the city's North Side,located across from Pittsburgh's downtown area. Due to flooding from the nearby river,the three stadiums' exact locations varied somewhat. The final version of the ballpark was between the eventual sites of Three Rivers Stadium and PNC Park.

The regular season began with a win at home against the Chicago Cubs on March 31 and ended with a loss at Great American Ball Park against the Cincinnati Reds on September 28. The 2019 Major League Baseball draft was held from June 3 to 5,2019. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams. The draft order was set based on the reverse order of the 2018 MLB season standings. In addition,compensation picks were distributed for players who did not sign from the 2018 MLB Draft and for teams that lost qualifying free agents. The first 41 picks,including the first round and compensatory picks,were broadcast by MLB Network on June 3,and the second round was streamed on MLB.com directly following the first round. The remainder of the draft was streamed online from June 4 to 5.
