Stephen W. Dunn (born 24 October 1957) is an English former FA Premier League football referee.^[1] He resides in his birthplace of Bristol, England with his wife.

Career

Steve Dunn started refereeing local matches in 1978.^[2]

He progressed through the Gloucestershire County League, the Western League and the Football Conference to become a linesman in the Football League in 1986.

His appointment to the Football League list of referees came in 1992, and in the same year he became one of the first of the new FIFA assistant referees.^[3]

Dunn's first ever Premiership match was on 23 August 1995, when Tottenham lost 1–0 at home to Aston Villa, the only goal coming from Ugo Ehiogu.^[4]

He reached the FIFA list of referees in 1997. Thus he became the first English official to achieve the "double" of the FIFA referees and FIFA assistants lists, a feat later matched by Steve Bennett, Graham Barber and Matt Messias. He completed six years at this level, stepping down at the age of 45 in 2002, although he continued refereeing as an over-age official in the 'domestic' competitions until 2005.

In 2000, he was the man in the middle at the FA Trophy Final between Kingstonian F.C. and Kettering Town.

One of his career highlights was the 2001 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Liverpool, when the 'Gunners' lost 2–1, their goal supplied by Freddie Ljungberg, but with two late goals coming from Michael Owen to reverse the scoreline at 90 minutes.

He would go on to referee Football League Cup semi-finals in 2002 and 2004.

Dunn's final Premier League game was Fulham's emphatic 6–0 win at home to relegated Norwich City on 15 May 2005.^[5]

He refereed his last professional match on 18 May 2005, when he took charge of West Ham's 2–0 win against Ipswich Town in the Championship play-off semi-final 2nd leg at Portman Road, both goals coming from Bobby Zamora.^[6] He was appointed to referee for the following season (2005–06) but made no appearances due to injury.

Henri George Lansbury is an English former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. Throughout his career, he played for Arsenal, where he ascended from the club's academy, in addition to spells with sides Scunthorpe United, Watford, Norwich City, Aston Villa FC, West Ham United and Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Luton Town. He achieved consecutive promotions to the Premier League in 2010–11 with Norwich and 2011–12 with West Ham. Lansbury also played for England as a youth international.

Anthony Taylor is an English professional football referee from Wythenshawe, Manchester. In 2010, he was promoted to the list of Select Group Referees who officiate primarily in the Premier League, and in 2013 became a listed referee for FIFA allowing him to referee European and international matches. In 2015, he officiated the Football League Cup final at Wembley Stadium when Chelsea defeated Tottenham Hotspur 2–0. Taylor returned to Wembley later that year to officiate the Community Shield as Arsenal beat Chelsea 1–0. He refereed the 2017 and 2020 FA Cup finals, both between Chelsea and Arsenal; Arsenal won on both occasions 2–1. Upon the selection, he became the first man to referee a second FA Cup final since Arthur Kingscott in 1901.

The 2000–01 FA Cup was the 120th season of the world's oldest knockout football competition, the FA Cup. The competition was won by Liverpool, who came from 1–0 behind against Arsenal to eventually win 2–1 in the final. The final was played outside England for the first time, at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, because Wembley Stadium was being knocked down to be replaced with a new stadium.

The 1999–2000 FA Cup was the 119th staging of the FA Cup. Both the semifinals and final of the competition were played at Wembley Stadium for the last time before reconstruction work began. The competition culminated with the final between Chelsea and Aston Villa. The game was won by a goal from Chelsea's Roberto Di Matteo, giving them a 1–0 victory.

The 1997–98 FA Cup was the 117th staging of the FA Cup. The competition was won by Arsenal with a 2–0 victory against Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium.

Richard J. Beeby is an English association football referee who operates in the Football League, and has also previously handled Premier League games.

The 1980–81 season was the 82nd completed season of The Football League. This was the final league season with two points for win.
