Stewart Woodman (born 1969 in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania) is an American chef. His flagship restaurant, Heidi's, was ranked the best restaurant in Minneapolis. His cooking style is Modern American and French Technique. He was educated at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
He was born in The United States of America and was raised in Montreal, Quebec. At the age of 20 he moved to Banff, Alberta, where he worked for three and a half years at Banff Springs Hotel as an apprentice cook. Woodman next worked as a sous chef at the 40-year-old William Tell Restaurant in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In 1994, Woodman moved back to the United States and was hired as a line cook for Michael Romano at Union Square Café. One year later he went to work at Lespinasse, located in the St. Regis Hotel to cook under Gray Kunz. He stayed for one and a half years before moving to Le Bernardin in 1997 to work under Eric Ripert, where he stayed two and a half years, working as a sous chef for most of that time. In 1999 he began working for Alain Ducasse, in Paris, Monaco, and finally as the opening sous chef at ADNY-Alain Ducasse at the Essex House. He then moved to a sous chef position at the Jean-Georges Vongerichten restaurant in the Trump Tower. He moved to Minneapolis in 2002, and opened Levain, followed by Five Restaurant & Street Lounge where he won the title of Best New Chef from Food & Wine Magazine. [1] In 2007 he opened Heidi's Minneapolis with his wife, business partner, and pastry chef Heidi Woodman. Heidi's closed in 2013. [6]
Shortly after opening Heidi's based on a comment in a review he launched a food based blog called Shefzilla: A Food Blog. In 2010 he published Shefzilla: Conquering Haute Cuisine At Home.
Woodman was an artist in residence at the Minneapolis Sabes Jewish Community Center in 2011. [7]

He and his landmark Napa Valley restaurant, The French Laundry in Yountville, California, have won multiple awards from the James Beard Foundation, notably the Best California Chef in 1996, and the Best Chef in America in 1997. The restaurant is a perennial winner in the annual Restaurant Magazine list of the Top 50 Restaurants of the World.

Zimmern also hosts a cooking webseries on YouTube titled Andrew Zimmern Cooks. Zimmern's new show, What's Eating America, premiered on MSNBC on February 16, 2020.
The James Beard Foundation Awards are annual awards presented by the James Beard Foundation to recognize culinary professionals in the United States. The awards recognize chefs, restaurateurs, authors and journalists each year, scheduled around James Beard's May 5 birthday. The media awards are presented at a dinner in New York City; the chef and restaurant awards were also presented in New York until 2015, when the Foundation's annual gala moved to Chicago. Chicago will continue to host the Awards until 2027.

Previous to his move to Minneapolis, he served as Executive Chef and Director of Culinary Operations for Daniel Boulud in New York City, over seeing Café Boulud in Palm Beach, Toronto and New York City.
Alessandro Stratta is a celebrity chef and restaurateur of mixed Italian and French heritage. Stratta played the role of Iron Chef Italian on the television show Iron Chef USA. He was the recipient of the James Beard Foundation award for Best Chef Southwest in 1998 and was executive chef and owner of his famous namesake restaurant, Alex, in Las Vegas until its closure on January 15, 2011. He was later diagnosed with colon cancer and became a cancer survivor. He was the executive chef and owner of "Tapas by Alex Stratta" in the Las Vegas suburb of Summerlin, until it closed in 2015. In 2016, Stratta became executive chef de cuisine at Prado restaurant at the Omni Hotel in Paradise Valley, Arizona.
