Stone Mountain Arts Center (SMAC), located in Brownfield, Maine, is an intimate performance hall situated in the foothills of the White Mountains. Despite its small size and remote location, artists who have performed there include Richie Havens, The Indigo Girls, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Martin Sexton, Marty Stuart, and Tom Rush, among others. The Androscoggin Bank Colisée is a 4,000 capacity multi-purpose arena, in Lewiston, Maine, that opened in 1958. The Androscoggin Bank Colisée was built to replace St. Dominics Regional High School Arena, and initially constructed and operated by the Catholic parish of SS. Peter and Paul. Currently, it is the home of the Maine Nordiques of the North American Hockey League. The Colisee is also used for concerts, conventions and trade shows. There is 17,000 square feet of exhibit space. For conventions, the Colisee can accommodate up to 4,800 patrons.

Carol Noonan is an American folk singer/songwriter from Maine. She began her career as the lead singer and songwriter for the band Knots and Crosses. "Crosses" was formed in the late 1980s by Noonan, Alan Williams and Rick Harris ; all were students at the New England Conservatory of Music at one time. They built a significant following around Boston and the New England area. After a major-label bidding war led to a failed deal with Island Records, the group disbanded.

Spirit Pond runestones

The Spirit Pond runestones are three stones with allegedly runic inscriptions, found at Spirit Pond in Phippsburg, Maine in 1971 by a Walter J. Elliott, Jr., a carpenter born in Bath, Maine. The stones, currently housed at the Maine State Museum, are widely dismissed as a hoax or a fraud. If authentic, they would be more evidence of pre-Columbian trans-oceanic contact and Norse colonization of the Americas.

Fidelity Trust Building (Portland, Maine)

The Fidelity Trust building is an historic office building in Monument Square, Portland, Maine. When the 10-story structure was completed in 1910, it became Maine's first skyscraper. Standing at 135 feet tall, it was designed by Boston architect George Henri Desmond. Designed in the Beaux-Arts style, the Fidelity Trust Building changed Portland's skyline. The building opened to great fanfare. It is listed as an historic Portland Landmark.
