Arbroath or Aberbrothock is a former royal burgh and the largest town in the council area of Angus, Scotland, with a population of 23,902. It lies on the North Sea coast, some 16 miles (26 km) east-northeast of Dundee and 45 miles (72 km) south-southwest of Aberdeen.
Forfar is the county town of Angus, Scotland and the administrative centre for Angus Council, with a new multi-million pound office complex located on the outskirts of the town. As of 2021, the town has a population of 16,280.

Daniel Fergus McGrain is a Scottish former professional footballer, who played for Celtic, Hamilton Academical and the Scotland national team as a right back. McGrain is regarded as one of Scotland's greatest players and throughout the 1970s and 80s as one of the best full backs in world football; sports writer Hugh McIlvanney commented, "Anybody who saw him at his best had the unmistakable impression of watching a great player, probably one who had no superior anywhere in the world."
The South of Scotland District is a Scottish amateur rugby union team which plays in the amateur Scottish Inter-District Championship. It draws its players from the South of Scotland, mainly the Scottish Borders where there has always been a proud tradition of rugby union. Historically the South team played matches against touring teams visiting Scotland from abroad, and also competed in the Scottish Inter-District Championship. After rugby union became a professional sport in 1995, the team was replaced in 1996 by the new Border Reivers team based in the same geographical area as the South and who wore the same colours as the old team.

The temperate, oceanic climate has played a key part in the evolution of sport in Scotland, with all-weather sports like association football and golf dominating the national sporting consciousness. However, many other sports are played in the country, with popularity varying between sports and between regions.
Henry Waugh Renny-Tailyour was a British amateur all-round sportsman who appeared for Scotland in some of the earliest international football and rugby union matches, remaining to this day the only player to have represented the country in both codes. He also played first class cricket for Kent County Cricket Club and was an accomplished athlete.

Meigle Cricket Club is a cricket club in Meigle, Perthshire, Scotland.
The Strathmore & Perthshire Cricket Union is a regional cricket league in Scotland. Since 1998, it is the feeder league for the North and Midlands of the country into the Scottish National Cricket League until 2011, when the SNCL, after little over a decade of existence, became called the CSL. Its one of four regional feeder leagues. The Strathmore Union was formed in 1928 and the Perthshire League was formed in 1963. The two merged in 2004.
The Professional Footballers' Association Scotland Team of the Year is an annual award given to a set of 44 footballers in the four national tiers of the Scottish football league system, who are seen to be deserving of being named in a "Team of the Year". The award is compiled by the members of the players' trade union, Professional Footballers' Association Scotland, with the winners then being voted for by the other players in their respective divisions. The award was instituted in the 2006–07 season. In that first season, the award was voted for by the managers in each division.
The Scottish Inter-District Championship is a rugby union competition between regional sides in Scotland. Established in 1953, the tournament went through several formats.
The Regional Series is a professional cricket league in Scotland. It is Scotland's premier domestic competition for the most talented cricketers in the country. The series was first contested in 2016 replaced the North Sea Pro Series a competition which was a joint venture between the Royal Dutch Cricket Board and Cricket Scotland. The competition is sponsored by Tilney. The Regional Pro Series comprises a 50-over tournament, the Tilney Pro50 and a 20-over tournament the Tilney T20 Blitz.
The 2021–22 Midlands Football League was the inaugural season of the Midlands Football League, the sixth tier of the Scottish football pyramid system. The season began with nine games on 17 July 2021.
