Dusit Palace

Dusit Palace is a compound of royal residences in Bangkok, Thailand. Constructed over a large area north of Rattanakosin Island between 1897 and 1901 by King Chulalongkorn. The palace, originally called Wang Suan Dusit or 'Dusit Garden Palace' (วังสวนดุสิต), eventually became the primary place of residence of the King of Thailand, including King Chulalongkorn, King Vajiravudh, King Prajadhipok, King Bhumibol Adulyadej and King Vajiralongkorn. The palace covers an area of over 64,749 square metres (696,950 sq ft) and is dotted between gardens and lawns with 13 different royal residences. Dusit Palace is bordered by Ratchwithi Road in the north, Sri Ayutthaya Road in the south, Ratchasima Road in the west and U-Thong Nai Road on the east.

Mario Tamagno was an Italian architect who worked mainly in early 20th-century Siam. He was educated at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin, where he became an instructor after graduating in 1895. He travelled to Siam in 1900, where he entered employment with the Siamese government in a twenty-five-year contract. He was among many Westerners, particularly Italians, who were employed as architects and civil engineers during the reign of King Chulalongkorn. He produced many works, and contributed extensively with Annibale Rigotti, most notably on the Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall. He married his classmate of Accademia Albertina, Marianna Zuccaro, who came to Bangkok in 1901. After the term of his government contract (1900-1925), he was asked by the Siamese government to continue his work for Villa Norasing during its last phase of construction, in May 1926 he returned to his homeland with a lifetime retirement income from the Government of Siam.

Chamai Maruchet Bridge is a historic bridge in Bangkok located on Phitsanulok Road, Suan Chitlada Sudditrict, Dusit District in the area of Government House near Rajavinit Mathayom School, Nang Loeng Racecourse, Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon: Nang Loeng Campus and Wat Benchamabophit. At the end of the bridge on Rajavinit Mathayom School side is four-way intersection that is the meeting point of Rama V and Phitsanulok Roads, called Phanitchayakan Intersection (แยกพาณิชยการ).
