Subrail Park

Subrail Park is a stadium in Labasa (pronounced "lum-ba-sa") on the island of Vanua Levu in Fiji.^[1] The stadium owned and managed by Labasa Town Council. The stadium has a capacity of 20 ,000 people at any event. It is the home for Labasa FC and Dreketi. It also hosts rugby union matches, such as the Colonial Cup and the Digicel Cup. It has been damaged during Tropical Cyclone Winston.^[2]

History: The property on which Subrail Park is situated, was donated in the 1900's by the Subrail family for the sole and specific purpose of a park to benefit the people of Labasa. Mr. Subrail, the founder, was a well known businessman in Labasa who held various leadership positions and foundered many businesses such as vehicle dealership and the Elite theater which was the only cinema in Labasa town for the longest time. Mr. Subrail has placed a major postive impact on developments through his influence. Apart from being known as the President of the Labasa Club, he has also held numerous positions in NGO's and clubs which promote humantarian activities. While the Fijian Government contributes to the upgrading and maintenance of the park, the Subrail family continues to hold a special interest in the welfare and admistrative matters of the park. The surviving beneficiaries of the Subrail Estate include Mr. Pavan Subrail, Mr. Atil Anand, Mr. Vikash Lal, Mr. Veenen Chand, Mr. Bhavick Lal, Ms. Shirlene Lal, Ms. Seema Lal, Ms. Vinita Chand, Mr. Shane Veenen Chand, Mr. Jason Aditya Chand, Mr. Kris Chand, Ms. Cynthia Deviyani Chand, Ms. Saanvi Subrail and Ms. Demira Subrail.

It is currently used for association football, rugby union and American football matches and hosts the home games of Fiji association football clubs Rewa F.C. and Tailevu/Naitasiri F.C. as well as the games of American football team Tailevu Knights. The stadium has a capacity of 8,000. Ratu Cakobau Park was scheduled to host an international match on 16 August 2011, Fiji against Samoa with both men and women's national teams in friendly action. However, bad weather left the pitch in an unplayable condition and the matches were moved to Thomson Park, Navua.

Mirchi FM is a Fiji Hindi-language radio station in Fiji. The station broadcasts on the 97.8 frequency to the cities of Suva, Navua, Nausori, Labasa, Savusavu, Nadi, Denarau, Mamanuca and Lautoka. The station also broadcasts on the 97.6 MHz frequency to the towns of Coral Coast and Ba. The station broadcasts on 98.0 megahertz to the town of Tavua, and on 98.2 megahertz to Rakiraki and Nabouwalu. Mirchi FM is Fiji's first Hindi FM radio.

Labasa College is a state secondary school for Forms 3 to 7 in Labasa, Fiji. It has a roll of more than 780 students as of January 2023, including a collection of boarding students from across the Northern Division of Fiji.
