The magazine was launched in 1973. [1] Michael Riedel was the owner of the magazine, and Laurie Sammis was the editor of the magazine between 1990 and 1993. [1] Earls Communications acquired the magazine in 1993 and combined it with Valley Magazine. [1] NW Publishing Group owned the magazine until December 2000 when Valley Publishing led by Laurie Sammis bought it. [1] The frequency of Sun Valley Magazine is biannual. [1] Since then Laurie Sammis has been owner and publisher of the magazine. [2]

Sawtooth National Forest is a National Forest that covers 2,110,408 acres in the U.S. states of Idaho and Utah. Managed by the U.S. Forest Service in the U.S. Department of Agriculture, it was originally named the Sawtooth Forest Reserve in a proclamation issued by President Theodore Roosevelt on May 29, 1905. On August 22, 1972 a portion of the forest was designated as the Sawtooth National Recreation Area (SNRA), which includes the Sawtooth, Cecil D. Andrus–White Clouds, and Hemingway–Boulders wilderness areas. The forest is managed as four units: the SNRA and the Fairfield, Ketchum, and Minidoka Ranger Districts.
Wood River High School is a public secondary school in Hailey, Idaho, one of two traditional high schools operated by the Blaine County School District #61. Wood River High School serves the communities of Bellevue, Hailey, Ketchum, and Sun Valley, all in the valley of the Big Wood River, and the current campus opened in August 2003. The school colors are green and white and the mascot is a wolverine.

The station was the first in the Wood River Valley and spawned a successful FM station, KSKI-FM, which remains on the air. It ceased broadcasting due to economic difficulties spurred by the launch of radio station KECH-FM, which was KSKI-AM-FM's first competitor in the Sun Valley area.
