Sunil Dnyandev Kamble is an Indian politician. He was elected to the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly from Pune Cantonment in the 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election as a member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He has previously served as Corporator in the Pune Municipal Corporation since 1992 - incumbent. He is known for his social work and direct approach. He was also elected as Standing Committee Chairperson of PMC in March 2019. He is the younger brother of 2 times BJP Minister Dilip Kamble. Coming from an extremely poor background, he emerged as a mass leader at a very young age. He began his social life as a young activist in ABVP. He played a pivotal role from the BJP side in campaigning and contacting on booth level in elections to the Balurghat Assembly constituency in West Bengal 2021 elections. Shri. Kamble currently is also a member of the legislative committee on Schedule Castes in the Maharashtra Legislature. [1] [2] [3]

Criticism

Kamble had faced criticism for his slapping an on-duty police man at a public event at Sassoon General Hospital and the video went viral. [4]

The 2019 Maharashtra Legislative Assembly election was held on 21 October 2019 to elect all 288 members of the state's Legislative Assembly. After a 61.4% turnout in the election, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Shiv Sena (SHS) won a majority. Following differences over the government formation, the alliance was dissolved, precipitating a political crisis.

A political crisis in the Indian state of Maharashtra occurred on 21 October 2019 after the declaration of results of the 2019 legislative assembly election over the formation of a new state government. The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party Shiv Sena alliance crossed the majority of 145 seats needed in the assembly by winning a total of 161 seats in the alliance. Individually BJP won 105 and SHS won 56 seats. The Opposition INC-NCP Alliance with 106 seats did not reach the majority mark. Individually INC won 44 and NCP won 54 seats.
